Default custom fees/duty taxes

First off, let me just say that since joining this forum the material that I have read has been extremely enlightening. Thanks to all that have shared their knowledge on this site.

I have search the site in regards to custom fees and or duty taxes without finding the answer. I have never imported anything in my life! So, please excuse this newbie question. How can I find out what the custom fees/duty taxes would be on a product? (I have not made up my mind as to what it is exactly that I would be looking to import yet.) Surely there is a chart or something somewhere that list things like jewelry, books, toys, electronics, etc. that give the percentage that customs will assess to these items depending on what country they are imported from. This information is a very important part of my decision making process as to which item(s) to import.

All help on this topic will be greatly appreciated. And again, thanks to all that share their knowledge on this site!

There is little info here on this site as the topic is not within our field.

Users/would be sellers need to research elsewhere for gainful information.

To assist you, I suggest you check this site:

CBP.gov - home page

Within that site, look for TRADE. There are extensive pages, with the critical up to date FACTUAL info. That is what you use to make your choices.

Since you are starting out, you must make sure to do your own work to make sure items are OK to on-sell. That certainly does not include comments on forums . Be careful of falling for that
