Default Any friendly advice for a noob to save on shipping?

Can anyone offer some advice that a noob (me) can cut costs on shipping?

I ship 1st class mail when under 14 ounces.

I generally ship Priority mail when between 14 ounces and 4 lbs.

Over 4 lbs, I shop around.

But I notice other sellers list "standard shipping" or "expedited shipping", without stating what specific method they are using. Is there anything I should know here?

Thanks all. It just seemed that others can ship cheaper when sending an item over 13 ounces?

Does anyone use Parcel with tracking?

Anyone that ships in any sort of volume can rework rates so that is very possible

Heavier item use UPS or FEDEX smart post.

USPS first class is still unbeatable in shipping speed and price. I try to sell items under 13 ounces for that reason...

So it seems ppl are less likely to steal something that small...

Parcel post can be cheaper but it will usually take longer to arrive. So it does not qualify as an expedited service the way Priority does.

Your best option is USPS, and depending how many items you ship, you can can company rates from the USPS, but they will need to be in very very high volumes.
