| GreenBean | 05-06-2013 12:51 AM | Risk of being SOL if you use SAL
Much depends on the (darn) shipper. If he is 'hot' then issues will happen regardless.
 |
| Razorlight123 | 05-06-2013 01:27 PM | what's SOL?! |
| libbo | 05-06-2013 11:17 PM | Hi how does it travel by SAL from China to UK? Does it come through East Midlands Airport so Parcel Force Handle it? |

:boink: | No thumbing things down when we are dealing with VeRo and importing, dhl, ems, seizures, etc. |
| GreenBean | 05-07-2013 06:04 AM | I was doing no such thing.
If you knew anything about SAL & its issues you may have grasped the message.
Far as I know your accounts are only in Canada & the USA though.
:ranger: |
| tmastermind | 05-07-2013 06:26 AM | Never has an issue with EMS or DHL although I prefer DHL as it does come faster (typically no more than a week). EMS comes in about 9 days. I always make sure with anything that looks suspect (even when its legit), to separate the packaging (retail) and the goods. This bypasses any potential issues |

:ranger: | What issues with SAL?...
I found it difficult to find any information on SAL.
Also, I've never had any problem with EMS either.
Finally, I think SAL is delivered via Royal Mail in the UK |

If possible yes but I've had shipments where its all in the same box but the packaging and goods are just separate i.e the retail boxes are flat packed under the goods and then I just assemble them together my end. |

If you're goods are potentially high risk but "assemblable", definitely a good move to spread it out... |

In this case I had some phone cases which are not branded but do resemble a popular design. |

Flowery by any chance? :juggle: |

Sorry mate I know exactly what brand I'm talking about but im not going to start revealing this on here now am I? Trade secrets n all :yar:
...And no they are not the popular flowery type.
Its just about being extra careful with anything when it comes to importing and DHL/EMS as the topic is about. Basically some top tips I shared about the separation has always made sure my goods have made it to me...so far I've not lost one though I'm sure a day will come when I will have to suffer the odd loss which I'm prepared for.
As I said in a previous topic, my goods are legit as they are non branded nor do they use any particular patent designs, they just look slightly similar so separation of goods from their retail packaging is just an extra precaution.
Prevention is better than cure as the saying goes... |
| libbo | 05-10-2013 11:57 PM | Thanks for the info guys. |
| Razorlight123 | 05-11-2013 03:07 AM | Just wanted to update. Seems SAL is pretty quick - It is at customs now awaiting clearance. Also it seems it is being delivered by Parcelforce: Express 48
I also received my EMS package yesterday.
Isn't it essentially the same process as EMS then?! |
| Razorlight123 | 05-28-2013 08:19 AM | Hi guys,
I paid with a seller for DHL, but he said customs was strict for DHL and without telling me shipped via EMS.
Although it's probably no course for concern yet, It arrived in the UK yesterday afternoon, but usually if I use EMS - it clears customs within 1 working day in the morning or early afternoon.
Am I slowly looking at a seizure. |
| tmastermind | 05-29-2013 05:18 AM | That's unusual for a seller to say that. I usually use DHL when the goods could be a "High Risk" chance of being looked at by customs. Could he not separate the retail packaging from the product. I find this helps out alot!
Also EMS is quite good but I found that it takes on average 3 days longer to arrive than DHL. |
