DHL SHIPPING QUESTION...customs..should i be worried
 

so i have 2 packages coming through dhl back to back...got 1 today and the other landed at noon today ...been sitting there since that time and no updates, i thought it would have been released in a few hrs...but do they only do that in the early morning to get item out...i know im not worried ...YET..to early for that, but what does this mean below

I wouldn't worry to much at this stage, all items go though customs whether your US or UK like me i get the same status updates from DHL. Sometimes and its usually quite rare but an item can be held by customers for a couple of days before its cleared. It the status does not change after 5 days then is the time to start worrying.

What was in the package may I ask? You dont have to be specific but is there any items that are...shall we say a close imitation of a popular item?

Im not quite sure why they have started showing the Customs Status Updated?

Cannot get my head round what that actually means?

the real line you should be worried about is: "please contact DHL"

Custom status update usually means that that customs has been told there is an item on the way.
just another hoop to jump through.

DHL is really busy right now due to the holiday.

Way too early to panic - give it 2-4 days

This is a good message to receive - it means that your item has already been pre-cleared by Customs, where the majority of shipments get held-up. However, they are letting you know that there's still a possibility (albeit remote) that an outside agency (like the FDA) may randomly stick their nose in and carry out their own inspection over-and-above what US Customs have already done. Since they only pull a very small sample of shipments, the message should be above should be taken as a positive. :thumb:

Your package came too late to be cleared for process in the day. It will be processed the next business day, maybe today in the morning.

Maybe already in the OP's hands and the worry is over

Wait until you get 7 weeks for release of a package. Then you know worry

7 weeks for release of package - way too late to do any action to the suppliers...well, more or less

Not going off topic, but a credit card charge back was still doable.

However, the reason was rather different.

The items needed to be fumigated .....

True on credit card chargeback - have to be careful on suggesting this though for the OP...issue is abuse of this benefit - especially by those who dont fully understand wth is going on

It has been known to happen both in the UK and US. Never had it myself, but never imported anything that would warrant it.

We had thanks giving last week and its during the holiday rush.
There is most likely a massive backlog of packages.
