Default Usps ems to uk

Hi,

I sent a package to the UK using EMS via USPS. For some reason its at awaiting customs charging state. Now I marked it as a gift so it leaves me surprised. Now what if its hit with custom fees? Its a gift to my cousin and he doesnt know about it. Can I, the sender, call Parcel Force and pay for it myself?

did you make sure to mark "GIFT" on the customs clearance form firstly? Not clear.

Parcelforce will post you a card to the receivers address saying to contact them, or wait until it arrives at the Local Depot and contact them with the waybill number.
You will get a charge plus £13.00 Parcelforce fees.

Even if it is sent as a gift. For most European countries somebody else can tell me if I wrong. I know it use to be for Canada and I believe it was the same for most of Western Europe and Scandinavia, if you put a value of more than $20 USD it was often times subject to Customs Duties.

For Canada, it can be any amount actually though once you get $100+ on declaration, they do get a little fidgety on it and inspect it harder.
