Default Bought an item off eBay. Did seller lie about location?

I bought an item off eBay 2 & a half weeks ago. I SPECIFICALLY made sure I bought from a seller that was relatively close to where I was in Canada, so I could receive it faster. (Their location said New Jersey. I was happy with that because the last 2 things that I remember buying from a place in NJ, arrived really fast with just standard shipping)

It's a small, $35 dollar item that I needed especially today (expected to have it much sooner anyways). Now I go and check the tracking and it doesn't even work with USPS website. Plus the first 2 letters of the tracking # are NK which made me think North Korea? Is he pretending to be in the US but ships from North Korea?

What's also shady, is that I notice a message/note they left for the order, that was telling me to track the item on some website called upzone.com.

What do you think?

It sounds like it - that he lied, I mean. I have no idea of the real location. I can relate, because I often order little things like cables, printer cartridges, etc. Often, I don't need them in a hurry and order from sellers in China since it is so much cheaper. But when I need something in a few days, I always search only for US sellers. It angers me when they lie about the location, because it takes more time to get here - like 10 days as opposed to 3-4 days. When you need an item by a certain date, there IS a difference.

Shipping Parcel Tracking | UPzone.com

That is a usable site.

Tends to update OK. USPS has been glitchy.

NK might be a typo. What are the last two alphabetical letters?

Message the seller and ask would be my first port of call.

I agree jeff, this happened a couple times to me before and I hate it.

Greenie, there is no last 2 letters, just numbers

Also, I just checked this seller's page and noticed they have 150+ negatives, 150+ neutrals, and 11k positives just in the past month.

I ALSO just noticed on their page: "Member since: Jan-18-09 in Hong Kong"

I think all signs point towards they are not located in NJ.

So after reading some details from that upzone website about my shipment, it said the method was "USPS INTERNATIONAL SURFACE AIR LIFT" - There's actually some type of system that allows these China/HK/Japan/Korean sellers to have their hoards of items shipped to a US warehouse and from there have it re-shipped by a USPS method.

After some Google-ing I found out that specific method mentioned above, can take 14-60 BUSINESS DAYS.

I'm beyond pissed off about this. Already left negative feedback but that doesn't do much. Literally 10 seconds after I left it, I refreshed the page and there were 2 more new positives. They sell a LOT. Hopefully I can prevent the same thing from happening to others if I report this deceiving little $h!t to eBay.

That would explain the 150+ negatives! I would imagine such a long turnaround time would anger anyone who is expecting their item quicker.

Have you opened a dispute case claiming item not received yet?

BTW, where's the Walter White avatar...that was a cool one

Seller - "you can wait until 4th, Jan.?"

No!

This just ruined so many things. I really needed this by now.

I thought you meant this was a purchase AWAY from ebay.

You said 'Off ebay' which usually means that to me.

I really don't understand how they haven't been shut down by now.

Anyways, because of this I had to spend $50 on another one from a different nearby seller.

Very sad to hear mcmx but your intuitions are correct - seller is shady and misreporting his location. Do what needs to be done to avoid future problems...for you and...(possibly) other people if you see fit...

Sadly ebay are unlikely to do anything about this because of the obviously very high turnover of the seller, as has been noted over and over again in this forum and elsewhere Eastern sellers get away with so much more than us and that can only be down to money! Money talks whether it is western or Eastern generated, seriously how many far eastern sellers are there on ebay and they all have big turnovers and they don't disapear through being banned they just keep right on going
