Overcharged by UK customs, worth disputing?
I have ordered some vero goods from China. On the customs declaration the value was $50, but when the parcel was delivered I found that I have had to pay £60 VAT on top of £13.50 Parcelforce handling fee. When I heard this over the phone I was furious but Parcelforce told me that my only choice would be to pay, or the parcel will be returned to sender. However I can dispute the payment later with UK customs. I ended up reluctantly paying the fee.
I have got the correct form needed to dispute the payment, it says I should provide an invoice to prove the value.
I asked the supplier to send me an invoice, he has sent it, but it is not good quality. It is very simple and made on Excel. It hasn't got the suppliers name, address or phone number. Just the business name and email address.
Should I still go ahead and dispute the payment? Has anybody on here experienced the same problem?
