Default So a friend wants me to sell her Coach Poppy bag...suggestions?

I am certain it's real. Her friend gave it to her and it came with the little journal, silk bag, paper bag, and a pen (I think). So I'm pretty sure it's not from China or wherever they make the bad ones. I have no experience selling this sort of stuff, but am being pressured into it by this friend.

Suggestions to safely sell this bag?

Take CLEAR detailed pictures from every angle and a picture of the serial number. Describe the bag exactly as it it and also, include your contact email or phone number so people can reach you if they have any questions.

I would suggest taking a couple very detailed close-up pictures so the Vero company can tell if it is real or not.

Thanks everyone for the tips. Selling these type of things is uncharted waters for me.

Do not load pictures through eBay "Add pictures". It charges from the 2nd and the bad thing is that uploaded pictures are always compressed by eBay so they won't look clearly as original. Host pictures yourself and then add URLs to the item description.

A general tip for taking good shots is to have lots of light. If you're in a room with ceiling lights, turn 'em all on. If you have floor lamps, move them over and point them directly on the item. Use a neutral color blanket or sheet as a background. Then hold your camera very, very steady (consider having it on a chair or, ideally, a tripod) and slowly click the button to take the shot. If your shots are blurry, try moving back a foot or so and taking another photo.

A big piece of white poster board always works. Just curve it & set the bag on it. Coolebaytools.com has some great tips. A copy of the receipt helps as well, just cross out personal info. Coach is not as big of a deal as say Hermes, or Louis Vuitton. The Purse Forum chicks don't watch Coach as much. At least that has been my experience.I would use Auctiva, load my photos in there & copy the HTML,then place that into the ebay listing area & load one Gallery photo? The images will be big. Good Luck!

^^^very good advice. Presenting the item as suggested will help. But, just bear in mind that there is a chance your listing could get picked especially if you have never listed anything similar.

Bluemoon999, I will remember that tip. I have a DSLR and can take decent pics (when I'm not lazy), but I have also noticed that eBay's new picture system is making them smaller and crappier.

Sacajawea, good to know that Coach is not that big a deal. No receipt, unfortunately.

Greenbean, I have a lot of experience successfully fighting vero on software. I am getting the impression, though, that it's not as easy with this stuff? And yes, this is the very first apparel item of any sort that I will be listing.

Must say you are at least aware and dealing with it positively. By chance do you have a photo of the bag that you might send me by pm?

If by positively you mean exchanging vague threats with Microsoft & Adobe, then yeah. They're big bullies with no real bite if you aren't actually selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗. PM sent, btw.

Listing things for friends can be a whole shed load of trouble. I would never do it expect for non BIg Brand stuff. But thats me.

Yeah, but looks like it is the real thing based on Greenbean's walk-through. I'm sorta being pressured into this one.

It makes me all warm & fuzzy inside to help others...howeve' it is a completely different thing when a "friend" is pressuring you.

If the friend needs $$ then perhaps it is nice to get the friend to read ebay for dummies. ($30, or read for free in Barnes & Nobles whilst sipping a coffee) Then the friend NEXT TIME (and their is ALWAYS a next) will be able to help herself.

Coach can be listed from a 0 fb account. It is done frequently w/out probs especially with great pic's.

Just a warm & fuzzy suggestion...

I've thought about that. Trust me, not an option. I am the go-to guy for eBay selling in my extended family, and no, it's not a position I enjoy.
