Sent a partial-refund offer and buyer doesn't answer anymore.

So I have three buyers who started return requests and I sent all of them partial-refund offers.


None of them has replied to the offers as of yet and it has been over a week now. I am afraid they will simply deny the offer and immediately ask eBay to make a decision on the case without me having enough time to reply.


Have you ever had a case like this?

You don’t want eBay to step in and make a decision. Can you just accept the item to be sent back and offer full refund once you receive the item that’s what I would do.

I don’t ask for partial refunds normally if a customer would want a partial refund for a particular reason I would agree to it.

I also don't do partial refunds at all - makes things a bit delayed and problematic if buyer does not reply

Don't wait for ebay to step in or it will be registered against your account.
Send them reminder messages and then accept a return 1 or 2 days before you're forced to if they do not respond.

I had the same thing, buyer left neg. and was a buyer from hell. I did the balance on the account and issued a full refund to avoid the return hassle and site issues. Also sent neg. feedback request with a very deep apology. Surprise neg to pos. At times we have to bite the bullet to keep things up and running.

Right now with MP you can't issue a refund after you send an offer for a "partial" refund, until the buyer agrees or denies you can't do anything basically except waiting and to make things worse, after a certain number of days the damn buyer could refuse the offer and ask eBay to decide the case simultaneously (it used to function differently in the PayPal era).


Tip: Don't offer partial refunds without first communicating with the buyer about it.

you have responded to buyer request for return,now it is their job to respond-accept or refuse,EBAY MONET BACK GUARANTEE IS ONLY GOOD FOR 30 DAYS.IF They do not respond by then,Ebay will not get involved,then the buyers would have to go elswehere to resolve the case.

My experience recently is that 90% of buyers do not respond period, its like they are dead or in a trance. Getting anyone to communicate period is like pulling teeth these days.

if ebay takes a descision for a refund request, they usually decide that the buyer has to return the item. very rarely they just issue a refund.

also to take a descision for a return request ebay takes 1-2 days. only item not received case, in case you have no uploaded a tracking is instant.

however your buyer might not care at all and the request will be closed autmaticly. i belive after 30 or 45 days. even without the partial refund
