depends on what is meant by rich?
I hate paying interest,so I always pay off my credit card bills each month

Cutting back purchases I would like but I dont need,or may be postpone it.
Trading down on some items, just came back from HD with their version of MR CLEAN pads/
I cancelled my NFLX and AMZN prime,I used to rotate them.

I have been watching Youtube, found movies which are hard to find, may be the color is not as great, but it is free.
And TUBI is not bad and is free.

It seems US is different, people are travellingm, cruising, dining out,and not paying down their credit card balance!!
Interest rate for cc balance can be as high as 29.99%
How many credit cards do European have?

Interesting that UK retail stores reject cash, are you visiting touristy stores ?
I would think stores which serve local would welcome cash?
I know ours do,cash is always preferred over credit cards.

El Salvador makes Bitcoin its national currency, but few are using bitcoins and retail stores still accept cash,US cash is most welcome.
Back to US dollar as reserve currency,we are losing some lustre, and the way we keep borrowing by printing more money as interest rate keeps rising, more of that money will go to service debt.
How long can this continue?I guess we raise this question in the past and we are still doing the same?
Do you know once upon a time Chinese often invite German economist to advice them ,then they switch to Paul Volcker, the rest is history.

Hippie cafes not taking cash??
wonder why?
When I shop at a local store, like a hair salon or dollar store, the owner often breathes a sign of relief when they see me taking cash out of my wallet.

Who said Biden is making policy which benefits China, latest is restricting AI chips to China.
During Trump era,the complaint is China does not buy enough from us,so we make them buy our natural gas at a set price.
Guess what,Urkaine war makes Western Europe hungry for natural gas,the Chinese will buy gas from us at a cheap price and sell it to EU at a higher price, net profit 750 millions.

US is different, because the world monetary system is run on US dollars. But that is likely to change soon - there is talk of a "new currency world". I bet it is going to be digital and tied to your social rating score. I visited London recently and there are very few places that accept physical cash. No service for you, boy, if you don't have a smart phone with apple or google pay.

Germany is more conservative, though. I would say only about 30-40% have credit cards. For most brick and mortar businesses cash is the most preferred way. But it is changing too. I see some businesses popping up that completely reject cash, like some fancy high tech restaurants or electronic gadget stores. I guess, Germans did not buy into "the virus lives on the paper money for 28 days" narrative completely.

You might be right, I visited mostly touristy places. But my hosts, living in the UK, gave me the impression that cash was an oddity. Everything was paid casheless. Even breakfasts at hippster cafes. One would think hippsters cling to the old ways...

The regular British stores accept cash and most food takeaways will only take cash, you need to visit the poor common folk.

China is feeling the pinch now, a number of US companies are moving production out of there. It is sad that the US was the world leaders in production with China second about 15 years ago. Now President Biden is making policy decisions which benefits China, wonder why that is?
