Default Ebays Buyer Protection Policy....

So it states in their policy that if they suspect abuse then they effectively wont deal with your problem for you. Surely if they get a buyer that has had a couple of previous cases due to not receiving the item.. they cant turn around and say that they're not going to help and essentially "your on your own". I say this because in their policy they state that they see it as abuse if a buyer has "excessive dispute cases"

So in summary, surely ebay cant just ditch their buyers (customers) if they think that they have opened excessive dispute cases can they?

And from other peoples experiences what is classed as excessive ?

Heres an extract from their BP Policy.

" In addition, we reserve the right to temporarily, indefinitely or permanently suspend your coverage under the eBay Buyer Protection Policy, pay out less than the full item price or temporarily, immediately and without prior notice, if we suspect abuse, excessive cases, tampering or interference with the proper working of eBay Buyer Protection. "

Whats you guy'es thoughts?

incorrect

an excessive amount of buyer claims, particularly non receipt, can result in
buyer account suspension

Yes, eBay DOES suspend buyer accounts. So does PayPal.

eBay and PayPal profit from automation. Any time a human being has to investigate something and get involved, it represents a cost to them.

The vast majority of eBay buyers NEVER have to file a Buyer Protection Claim, or get an eBay rep involved in their transactions. And very few sellers have such claims opened against them.

So, while eBay certainly suspends sellers who have a history of multiple claims, they also suspend buyers who have a history of filing such claims. With the buyers, they MAY take some extra care to really look at what happened and give them a little more leeway. So, if a buyer opens 3 claims, but the sellers have a history of multiple claims, the buyer will probably be OK. BUT, if the buyer files multiple claims against sellers who have no history of claims being filed against them, then eBay knows that something is wrong.

eBay knows that some buyers try to use them to scam free merchandise from sellers. And, some people have a history of complaining about everything, all the time. These people are NEVER satisfied, and try to find any reason they can to complain. In either case, this costs eBay time and money. So, eBay WILL suspend buyer accounts.

Were you asking as a buyer or a seller? Or general chat?

ebay/paypal suspend anyone who uses the portal. Simples.

ecommerce agents suspend doing business with any party perceived to be contary to a (often well undefined) business plan.

Just general chat.. i was just thinking that if i was a buyer and had problems with sellers then what would happen in the case when it comes to that particular clause.

I.e. if i had genuinely already opened cases (3 - 5) as a buyer against a range of sellers that sent defective non working products.. would i be penalized for getting shafted by the seller time and time again? would ebay look at that and think its the buyer complaining time after time? or would they actually see that the product is just unluckily defective every time. :>

.... And the portal ehh? Care to elaborate?

The vast majority of sellers WILL work with you to send a replacement for a non-working item. Filing a Buyer Protection claim should be your LAST RESORT, used ONLY if the seller refuses to work with you. And if that is the case, you definitely want to NEVER buy from that particular seller again.

The odds of one buyer having problems with multiple sellers like that is very small, unless you were purchasing a large amount of merchandise. Let's say you were purchasing books for a library, and you bought 1,000 different books from 1,000 different sellers. 2 or 3 Buyer Protection cases may be reasonable under those circumstances. But, if you buy 10 books and have 3 claims, something is not right.

Yes. The bottom line is, you cannot file an endless number of cases.

And, there should be no reason that you have to.

If a seller rips you off, file the claim. Absolutely.

But if you are trying to use these claims against sellers to get free merchandise, it is not going to work very well for you. You might get away with it a couple of times, but you WILL end up being banned.

Yes I actually had a buyer try to scam me bought a whole bunch over a 1 month period and then filed claims on all. PayPal shut down all his claims and messaged me informing me that this buyer had opened claims on over 75% of his total purchases... good to know paypal isn't completely anti-seller
