Default Had my listing for a tent taken down by VERO!!!

Just thought I would share with you all my latest experience with the eBay VERO team, I have been selling a certain type of functional tent for the last few weeks and have been doing well with them, I bought them to sell as I had had enough of constantly looking over my shoulder selling VERO items and saw an opportunity to sell something with a good mark up that was non VERO and so should have been no hassle.........

Or so I thought until I received an email from the VERO team giving a link to a design site where the type of tent had been registered and apparently only this person can sell them in the UK even though as goes the usual story there are a few others also selling them

I have now started to spread the sales over my stealth accounts but it annoys me that someone can seemingly just register a product (and I know that they do not even manufacture these themselves) and then go though the VERO team to take down any competition, although its a pretty good idea and I might even look into doing it myself!!

It also made me wonder what was the most random thing that anyone might have had taken down by the VERO team, that you just wouldn't expect?

Why don't you contact the owner of the site and speak with him (stealth fashion) - explain that you have a few to sell and etc.

Flip it upside down and sell it as a rain collector.

On things like that you would be better off to just list them as used. In the text somewhere just say that they are surplus new or old stock from a local company that went out of business.

Dont use stock photos and dont make them look too professional. I mean dont make them look like they are on some website showcasing it.

I have used this tactic and it works when I do it. The problem is that use of "BRand NEW" and things like that.

List them as used. The buyer will see that its really new since it was surplus or overstock. Or even old stock. They still pay the same.

I know it may hurt but maybe keep the brand out of the title. If someone is searching for your tent then they will find it. Sales may drop a little but it might let you sell them at all.

My lisitng was the mutts nuts compared to everyone else's and did look 110% better than any others, the tents do not have a brand as they can only be used for one purpose so anyone searching for one would not put in a band name, they would only search for 'what it does tent' and they come up, I have relisted now and made the listings look less professional with no flashy pictures and just plain text, I have also dropped 'Brand New' from the title and subtitle, so I will see how it goes

Contact the manufacturer and ask if they are licensing sales of their tent, as this sounds like some chancer who owns a website and is just making use of ebays ignorance of vero.

You never know you may end up with a license to sell them or the information that you need to prove that this chancer is full of

Unfortunatley they do hold the license for it and provided VERO with this which was passed on to me, I looked it up on the Intellectual Property Office's website and they have held the license since 2009, they have renewed it a couple of times and it is due to expire (if they don't extend it again) in 2014

I have made contact with them but the director is not back until Monday and I have left my contact details and have been told she will phone me on Monday, hopefully they grant me a license to sell them as they do have a great mark up
