Activity: 0% Longevity: 69% | | Question about PayPal "limited"
Hi,
I have a question about using paypal in my online store. I'm in the progress of opening a online store with "furniture" and i like to offer also paypal as payment posibility in my store.
So far i have a open a paypal account uisng my bank account and visa card etc... to get the account verified. Now i'm a bit scared about using paypal as payment methode, cause i read a few times that new accounts get limited after receiving money the first time, like 600 USD for a couch or what ever..
Is this true ?
Regards
Keen

paypal can place a limit on an account.
A figure like that amount may be enough for a limitation.
However, if this is your business, you should make sure you start off with everything in order. Have a business plan ready.
Is this in your real info? Are you also considering another payment option as well?

Definitely offer other payment options and possibly work Paypal in gradually . If you are using all real information than your Paypal account will operate more smoothly , and with your item amounts you will need to provide your SS# or tax ID, and if it is your first account with real info it's definitely more credible and stable than stealth information

Try to gradually increase the amount you use PP. They are very edgy at first, so you have to build up your trust with them.

@keen, you can use other payment processors than just pp...you can explore payment processors that will accept both credit cards and pp...I wouldn't use Paypal unless I was forced to

Better to not have one source as rsot and I suggested
This is a known receipe for issues. Not what you would like on a new business website

Thanx for the answers!
After all i read i'm not a big fan of paypal, the problem is, a lot of customers want to pay by paypal and thats the problem.
We ordering furniture from china, so we have to send a part of the money we receive from orders directly to supplier, and here starts the problem, when i receive in my new pp account "real card info" Bank and visa... the first higher amount i think they will limited it.....
I just saw that i can buy here pp acounts... is there any difference to mine ? got they no blocked after receiving higher amounts?

@OP, look into CCNow or authorize.net - they can accept both CC's and paypal - read and understand

I am glad I asked the question of location
This changes how you deal with PayPal completely
Until you learn more do not touch PayPal with a proxy
Is the account made already?

A VPN, to the user is like a proxy, only more stable. Proxies can usually be detected as proxies and eBay/PayPal/Amazon will close an account if they detect one. A VPN is better able to hide the fact that it is a remote connection. HOWEVER: EB/PP/AMZ have lists of the IP ranges of popular VPN (and VPS) providers and they don't like these, either, since they figure the user has something to hide.
A VPS is the same thing as a VPN, except that instead of just having a remote connection, it comes with a server - so you are logging into the server remotely and using THAT computer. Everything on your PC stays private. With a VPN, you would be using YOUR PC over their connection.
I highly recommend a merchant account. It does no harm to have PayPal as an OPTION, but if it is your ONLY option and PayPal freezes your account, you will no longer be able to make any new sales and your money will be held for 180 days. Many merchants who used PayPal as their only processor have been left scrambling to find a new payment processor - if they have the funds to keep operating at all, since PayPal freezes their funds for the 180 days. For many small businesses, taking a hit like that can effectively shut them down permanently - since without access to working capital, you cannot make sales.

For OP: Merchant Accounts - eBay Suspension & Paypal Limited Forums - nice section to look into

Very important to stress to new users to not be blinded to PayPal.
