Default Ebay Now Requiring Linked Accounts?

Well I think it's finally happened. Tried to list a buy it now on a new account that *should* have added the buy it now, but it didn't. Thought the reason might have been the limited account (see previous posts) but apparently it's because the email is not *linked* with my ebay account. The account has met all the other requirements, and the only other thing could be the limited account which will be cleared up in a short time from now. I asked an ebay rep and was told that I would have to link accounts. Gave the usual ebay spiel "would you like me to show you how to do this?" No I don't want you to show me how!

Houston, we may have a problem.

Has anyone else noticed this yet for accounts who offer Paypal? Is there no way around it? It looks like my plans for trying out the linked account on a new paypal account just got pushed into overdrive...

I noticed you said a "new" account. If you have less then 10 feed rating then yes, you have to link a paypal account to do a buy it now

How long has this been going on Chris? One of my last accounts I didn't have to link the account before reaching 10. Seems like a relatively new change. Damn but ebay is getting pretty heavy handed with the restrictions lately! If you don't buy feedback, 10 feedback can take a while, especially when you're shipping internationally!

You also have to link the payment account if you require immediate payment I believe. Eh, I also know that if you change your email address on an account even if you met all the requirements, the buy it now option won't happen for 30 days. This is another way for them to protect against fraud, you know someone steals your account and then lists a ton of crap with buy it now... leaving you looking like the bad guy.

I think accepting immediate payment and "linking" a paypal account to your ebay account for verification are different?

I normally accept immediate payment and enter my "new email address" which has already been added to the same paypal account and confirmed. I've never had any problems with this

I've never linked my paypal/ebay accounts so far. Do you guys normally do this? especially looking for answer from mrfeebay (guru)

edit: wow 5 replies, at this rate ill take over the forum, anyways off now, work tommorow, aghh

Default paypal verified

I've created a new account and tried to list an item for under 10 bucks and it won't let me sell. I've added a new email address to my existing paypal account and didn't make it my default address. This is the message i get.

Any Ideas?- I thought of disabling purchases outside US but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Thank you for participating in global trade on eBay. In order to begin selling your items on eBay sites not associated with your home country, you will need to take a few steps:

1) You will need to have a PayPal account that has been "Verified". Click on your country of eBay registration below to understand how to complete that process.

2) Once you have a PayPal account that is "Verified", please link your verified PayPal account to your eBay account.

If you already have a “Verified” PayPal account, and are still receiving this message, you need to link it to your eBay account. Once you have a verified PayPal account that is linked to your eBay account, you will be able to sell an item on any of eBay's sites worldwide.

Jack,

Not to be funny or nothing but I think most people get suspended because they don't read the policies or rules of Ebay then turn around and complain about them. It clearly states in the rules and policies that you need a link account or have 10 feedback to do buy it nows.

I don't want to do global trading. All i want is to sell stuff to people in the us. If there a way I can turn this off? Also, my paypal account is verified, I just added a 2nd email address to it like it says in the guide.

Actually, it doesn't say it...clearly anyway. Yes it's true that you have to have 10 feedback or have an ID verified account. There is a workaround that I've used for a long time. 5 Feedback with Paypal. But I've had no problems with needing the account to be linked...until now. :(

How difficult would it be to make a bank verified account when the information on your paypal account (at least the address part) is fudged?

Modee, I can't even get to that option to create a listing. I enter the name of my item in the ebay sell box and click "sell it" that is when that screen comes up. I tried to find a preference where I could it "off" with no luck. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I'm from Illinois. I put the same town i live in as my address, that's why it doesn't make any sense to me. I used epassporte to get a virtual mastercard because simon wouldn't work for me for some reason. Could that possibly be the problem?

BRMAc

Its either 2 things,

1. Your using proxy or a international IP address to shield yourself

or

2. you are selling items that are highly counterfeited, bootleg and so and so....

I'm just going off what they have in their new rules and polices

Chris, I appreciate you help. I'm using this ebay account from a computer at work with an american IP address(no proxy) and can't even get to a screen that allows me to select an item to list. Anything i type into the box automatically sends me to that screen.

I'm beginning to think it has something to do with getting the virtual card through epassporte, since I think it's based in The UK. It's the only thing that makes sense. I wanted to use simon for the gift cards but then would always say "processing error" (because my card was "verified by visa"? I don't know). Any info would help.

Thanks
