Default Are you changing PWs on dormant accounts?

Hi -

I have a lot of dormant accounts. Like... 100's.

This hacking baloney is really messing up my daily life. Having to log-in to each account and change all of my ACTIVE accounts (working around 100 right now) is enough of a PITA alone.

But what are the rest of you doing about your dormant accounts? Are you logging in to change your password? I am hesitant to do so because I'd need to find about 400 IPs to do it. And some of these accounts haven't been logged into for over 3 years, so I'm worried it will trigger a cascade of questions for eBay.

Anyway.... are you bothering to log-in and change your passwords on dormant accounts? Do you think eB will freeze accounts whos passwords haven't been changed?

I mean... I'm pretty sure this is all just PR hooplah. The incident occurred in February and no one's had any problems since as far as they can tell.

Neither has anyone. eB released that in their press release.

The question is: what are you GOING to do.

Well UK users dont have a choice, when you log in it forces you to change your password by email or phone..

Not reading well again?

Are you or are you not going to change passwords on dormant accounts should you have any?

Do you have any chance of issues with IPs?

We're talking about dormant accounts.

I tried an account that had no usage for ages. I did not get a prompt.

Interesting to hear

I'm in and out of about 80 accounts a day.

From my experience, it seems to be a slow roll-out of a mandatory change. I was prompted 2 times yesterday with a mandatory screen to change your PW, and 6 times today.

@Gb - so does that mean you ARE logging into dormant accounts and changing pws? On purpose or did it just happen by coincidence?

I think the whole thing is a farse. May change one or two passwords but doesn't bother me too much. Will NOT be logging into all my accounts to change, be there for 2 years.

Getting emails on all my accounts for a password reset though...

I had just 1 that did not prompt me and did not need password change (and without explaining it here, I think I know why and it was unusual case) otherwise all dormant accs
needed reset...when I say dormant, not many years dormant but some had not been logged in to for 6 months or more...

you have to think though, if it was a hack and your paypal password is same as ebay, then you need to change both.....I would do those type first...the rest eg. dormant ones, no rush...
