Can I get banned for cancelling and refunding a buyer on Amazon?

I know this affect your sellers rating on ebay, I learnt ebay is copying amazon.

Of recent, I sold an item on ebay and eventually the same item sold on my Amazon account for a more expensive price. Unfortunately, I'd already shipped this item to the ebay buyer and now I am worried about what to do to the order on amazon such that I dont get banned.

So, If I cancel the item and refund the buyer immediately, does this affect my seller rating?

My seller rating on Amazon is currently at 11.40 - Fair

What can I do to this order that would not affect my seller rating.

It is a defect.

Some people would buy from another seller and send to your buyer and upload tracking.

Can you find the item for sale locally?

No. I seem like the only seller having the item on ebay and Amazon. I actually have two but the otherone is not working properly and I dont deem it fit to send out.

It sounds like you are in a pickle because cancelling is a moderate defect.

Well, I could afford to cancel if it wont take my account from fair to ban. Its currently 11.40 - Fair

Can you purchase your item at a retail store? It is probably worth paying a little extra and taking a loss than lose your account

No. Its no longer available anywhere on the internet as at my last check. Not even from the manufacturer. Its an electronic item

Cancel it on amazon and select "buyer cancelled". If you do twined it doesn't count as a defect. It's the only option that won't affect your metrics.

It is all math. If you have enough transactions that it would not make much difference and remain fair, then no big deal. Just don't get in a habit of it. It is a moderate defect.

I had to cancelled an order once and my metrics when down to 90% from 100. Im now at 97% and never did it again. I stated that the item was damaged to the seller.

That's why you always select buyer cancelled.

On a previous account a few years ago I cancelled around 100 orders in one day and did not get any repercussions from it. Although just to be on the safe side, yeah. Use it sparingly.

Yes, choosing buyer cancelled is fine. Anything else does count as a defect, I can also confirm this.

Thanks guys. You only die ones. By your consensus, I cancelled the order and chose buyer cancelled. Inventory then set to zero.

I will accept the consequence.

This only works if the buyer has requested a cancellation. otherwise it will hit your metrics.

That's not true. As I said I've done it hundreds of times and I check my metrics daily.

Sorry but user3657 is correct.

The buyer has to request the seller to cancel for the order not to count against you on the metrics. It also clearly says that on the metrics itself.

I made a test amazon seller account yesterday, purchased from myself with one of my other accounts and then cancelled it as 'Buyer Cancelled'. Today I logged in and see it count as a defect. It takes 24 hours for the defect to show after cancelling.

I had to cancel because a buyer would not provide a good address. I selected "buyer canceled" but it still showed up as a defect for me because the buyer had not initiated the cancellation request.

Did you ever get banned from amazon? Or just took the hit on your metrics? I feel bad for you for getting stupid advice from this idiot and unfortunately the people that were right about this responded to late. What I would have done since you had a fair rating and not a great one would be anything I can to find the item somewhere locally or online and get it shipped to the buyer. If you really can't find it I would of sent the defective one and emailed the buyer explaining the situation and giving the option of sending the item back for a refund plus a little extra $$ for the trouble. Amazon is very picky about canceling orders as they take it customers won't be happy. Anyways I hope your account has survived this hit on your metrics.
