Default New Feedback Removal Policy?

Normally when you get a negative or a defect which is unfairly given , you go on to customer chat, have explain the situation, and normally they remove the feedback if it is evident it is unfair, unjust and you as a seller have done everything you can to already rectiify the situation.

However today, after contacting them about a buyer who was attempting feedback extortion, I was told the new policy is that it gets emailed to the department and they now cannot be contacted by chat, and it will take 72 hours for them to review the situation.

This just could be another moronic eBay CS worker in Manilla, or has anyone else encountered this?

Was the feedback extortion conducted thru emails. Perhaps they need extra time to conduct their investigation...ie- looking through exchange of messages.
On real accounts is the past, ive only had immediate removal of feedback via chat for poor language that can be seen instantly by chat worker.

We don't have chat here in the USA anymore. We have to call in to get it removed.

Interesting stuff...

Yes the buyer attempted the extoritonate through ebay messages, so it will get removed no doubt as he said 'if you dont send me a gesture of goodwill i will leave you negative feedback' -

I've had loads of feedback removed through chat, there is a 'system' to use when approaching it, I became quite good at it - which you need to be when being a low volume seller with the new defects system

Havent tried calling in to discuss, I try to avoid calling them at all costs

You definately have grounds for removal i agree. Gosh.. there really are some wicked people about and probably try it on loads and get away with it.

Dont think id call in either but i can understand your frustration. Ive not experienced feedback extortion but im sure that someone who has will maybe give advice as to how to report this without calling in.

Pretty sure that yankee did a great thread on feedback extortion. I guess having a peek at that might offer some kind of solution :-)

This is a clear cut case, all buyers are crooks, this is how you have to treat them all because of ebays own system creating this 'society', my radar is always on

but I know how to have pretty much all negative feedback removed - there is a process that has to be adhered too, slip up on one aspect, and they wont remove it - adhere to it to the tee, and it will always get removed. But that was the live chat days, now I doubt it will work. But i might give it a go.

Dont need a solution so to speak, just was wondering if it was an eBay CS moron or not

Sorry to put a spanner in the works of hope, but Ebay customer services cant even see previous messages and Chat between customer and seller on the CHAT platform

Also dont be suprised if they give you the typical "cant see nothing wrong, buyers opinion"

As far as i was aware, ebay can see private message exchanges between buyer and seller thru ebay messaging....and im presuming that wireds buyer made his extortion threat thru this messaging platform so should be covered when they see this :-)

What a load of rubbish. Complete untrue. Ive had such workers read through the message with me and they have even quoted lines from said emails!

Totally agree with you.
I had an issue about 4 years ago. Too long a story but in a nutshell, deliberately sold me an item that was missing parts and broken. Paid cash so wasnt covered. My son took in delivery so wouldnt have known to check it.
Rows over ebay messages with seller meant that he did indeed mention that item was.missing parts but he failed to mention it.
Though ebay couldnt do anything, they said that all messages had be seen by ebay and they would support my application to take matters further.
He refunded me...
I know this is a different story to wireds but the point im making is that they DO see these messages if an issue is under review.

This is one reason why all my addresses are accessible. Ive had no rwturns as yet but in an ideal world if a refund was necessary then id rather slip an email with my real.return address. But they could see that which is my concern.

Anyway
