Default Please explain new eBay selling standards

Please can some one explain as I'm confused

Says 2% defect rate and Maximum 5 unique cases opened

Is that 2% or 5 unique buyers effected in one Callander month or one year?

Also for delivery in time should I just mark item as despatched as soon as shipped or anything else needed ?

What about returns does that effect me and can account get closed

Your defect rate is calculated based on your last 90 days of sales, just like it has always been.

I always recommend shipping with tracking, but especially now with the new standards. With the new standards if you ship without tracking, your buyer is asked when they leave feedback if the shipment arrived on time. This means all they have to do is say "no" and it counts as a defect for you. Very easy to be taken advantage of that way. On the other hand if you ship with tracking, you only get a defect if the tracking number shows that the parcel was delivered after eBay's estimated delivery date.

As long as you know how to manage your returns there is no risk of account closure for that reason. This would only be a problem if you commonly refuse returns and get cases referred to eBay, because "cases not resolved by seller" counts as a defect.

Does that clear things up for you?

90 days is not true if you have sold less than 400 individual items.

Sellers with 400 or more transactions over the past 3 months are evaluated based on the past 3 months and sellers with fewer than 400 transactions are evaluated based on the past 12 months.

This is true, I forgot about that stipulation because I don't have any accounts with low sales. Thanks Chicago..
