I have a paid site that's just rotting. Was thinking of what I need to do with it. Should I make it a torrent site? if so would you want to be a mod over there TGMT?

Wonder how u get around the MPAA tracking what u download? I got a disney movie and i guess one or some of the seeders was MPAA or some one of the sort and they was able to get my ip then they reported to my isp then now i got a email from my isp for copy wirte infringment and if i do it to much they will suppened my account.

There are ways to minimize your risk.

The 1st one of course is to use your neighbors unsecured WiFi connection, but doing so will end up with them getting a letter sooner or later and they in turn will secure their connection.

Here's some tips using your own connection for downloading Movies and Applications that might get you reported....

Wait to download until you see the seeder ratio at 2-1 or more. For instance 100 seeders and 50 leachers. That way you can get the download very fast and terminate the seed.

I know a lot of hard core torrents users will be upset with this next statement...but NEVER Seed anything that might get you reported, right after you get your download STOP the torrent. Seed other stuff to keep your ratio up.

And lastly...anything controversial try and download late at night. I think there is less reporting at that time.

O so they get u just by seeding or can they get u while downloading it cause i can just not seed if thats the case.

I used a service called itchycats.com they work wonderfully very very fast download speeds i was doing like 2.3 mb a sec on my downloads but im not sure if they could track ur downloads through them. it cost $25 a month though to use this service.

They can get you by both, downloading and seeding.

IMO download late at night and terminate the torrent the second its done. :bolt: (on risky torrents)

To date, I have never received one of those letters.

Go into the settings for your torrent client (vuze, utorrent, or whatever). Look for the option to require encrypted transfers. Enable it and set it for RS-160 or something similar. It might be RAS-160, I don't recall exaclty. If you are using Vuze, simply go into options>connections>Transport Encryption>(then choose your option) - I don't know the exact location of the option for any other client application.

Then, borrow a nearby connection or buy your own device via ebay or craigslist. Not the normal kind of device, but the anonymous kind. If you buy your own device, be very certain to change the MAC of your ethernet or wireless AND your router WAN MAC. Then only use your client under a completely separate windows user account or better yet, set up a spare PC only for torrent transfers.

Be careful, and research my suggestions for more thorough details.

Also, every client has a section where you may add IP addresses to automatically block and/or not connect to (seeds/peers). There are lists of known RIAA MPAA DMCA IP addresses. Get the most recent list of known baby-rapers (I mean media enforcement people like the afore mentions 4-letter-groups). Add that list to the blocked IP section of your client.

What's the difference between being registered there and not?

I've been using them for a while now, but don't have an account.

You can access torrents that are older than the ones if you aren't registered.

Suppose you want a rare alb*m and the torrent is available, but from 4 years ago. No reg, no rare.

You can create invite codes. The more seniority, the more invites (allegedly).

You can send messages to torrent owners requesting a seed.

More perks that don't come to mind right now.

The best way to avoid getting hit by the RIAA or whatever it is called is to get an offshore vpn. I have one from the Netherlands from blackvpn. Sorry, I should rephrase it. Best 'private' tracker in the world. The majority of the stuff released to the public torrent websites are SCENE-Rel torrents from ST. The speeds on supertorrents will top anywhere else. Take advice this from a serious torrent abuser ;).

Does anyone possibly have a TorrentLeech invite they could forward to me? I had one last year, but they closed my account due to not logging in for 90 days, 6 months, or something like that.

I had a killer UL ratio. Seems silly for them to close it for inactivity. I mean, can't I take a break without the risk of being punished? :rant:

this is the only private tracker I have left. Like I said, I lost my TL account from not logging in for a long time. I typically keep a ratio of > 1.25, but this one is new.

If your invites are for something more than standard reg, I'd like to know what it is you can provide.

For those worried about torrent police, try an IRC or newsgroup. Torrents are risky unless you have an offshore vpn as stated above.

Demonoid opens registrations for a few hours - every once in a while. Sometimes it can be months before they will accept open registration. My invites allow people to sign up when registration is closed. To get more features, a user needs to upgrade after becoming registered.
