Default Pros and Cons of Becoming a eBay Powerseller

This question has been asked a few times in the eBay Suspension Forums. I created my new account, I haven't been suspended yet, and now I have high enough feed back that eBay is offering me Powerseller status. Is it worth it?

Pros and Cons of Becoming a Powerseller
Should you become a Powerseller?

Pros:
  • Slightly more communication opportunities with eBay.
  • Having Powerseller Logo gives you more trust to buyers. This could mean more sales.
  • Depending on your Powerseller level it takes more to suspend you. You're giving SLIGHTLY more trust by T&S.

Cons:
  • eBay will suspend and limit a Powerseller account just the same as a Non-Powerseller.
  • Using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address could hurt you when eBay tries to send you information about your Powerseller status.
  • There is risk of suspension but it is slight.
  • No protection from T&S.
  • Nothing really changes.

Final Answer:
There is absolutely no advantage to Powerseller status. It may increase sales slightly, but is it worth it? The only thing that matters is having the right products at the right price. Plus you will be held to higher standards than most. Really - YOU DONT NEED IT.

Overall feel from other members:
Not worth it.

Side note: This is the first of many Q&A I have for this forum. I wanted to start with something easy, before I jump to a topic like Paypal Linking.

Yeah One Good Reason For Power Seller Is That They Give You A Courtesy Call Telling You That They Are Going To Shut Down Your Account--evil *******s.

Are item listing limitations less likely to be an issue as a powerseller?

No. It doesn't matter really.

Cons is mainly some buyers look at you and expect and arm and a leg.
Other than that higher search placement, discounts, etc.

I became powerseller after 90 days and then two days later became TRS. Is it worth it? Probably not...I have seen no advantages other than shipping discounts.

One con is you are under higher scrutiny...one slip up or buyer complaint and TRS is gone.

The boost in catalog above none PS/TRS is worth it alone... My items sell for at least 15-40% less then those with PS/TRS

I have a Platinum, gold, several silver and a bunch of bronze... They basically sell better the higher the status. Its a trust issue... Mind you the higher status also get more attempts with scammers...

Being TRS or PS has no effect on selling limits....at least for me. I even opened a store and no raise in limits. If it's not raised by the beginning of next month, I will probably phone in. 50/$5000 is too low. If I had maybe 100 items that would suit better. The dollar amount is of no concern to me.

Be glad you not in the UK, we only get 25 items a month.

I would rather open another ebay account for the further 50 items to list.

Calling ebay is always a risky business.
