Does Better privacy just deal with DOM storage and not flash and normal cookies?

jbluntz 06-24-2010 04:35 AM

It deals with flash dom and some other stuff not regular cookie dough, I mean cookies though haha.

EFIL4OREV 06-24-2010 04:47 AM

I really doubt ebay would be using these so called DOM cookies. I prefer to keep my cookies/flash cookies so they trust me more but if you can just use this "better privacy" program to delete DOM cookies then yeah ill give it a burl.

jbluntz 06-24-2010 04:54 AM

I don't know why you would want to keep flash cookies as well, ebay's not a person, keeping regular cookies just makes for easier navigation, sometimes I delete all cookies and it has no effect on my account whatsoever.

I can say that I'm not a FF guy and I've had some accounts go down while other account go unaffected. I heard that alot of linking was based on FF plugins. I'm just saying from my experience I never delete any cookies use different user accounts and always different ips.I always keep the cookies because it lessens the change of logging into the wrong account.

I always sell things around the house and all of my accounts were created last year and all are going strong to this day some have a few transactions some have alot and some have none because I list and it never sold. So I don't know what other people is doing but I haven't created anymore accounts this year so that might be something I might try.

Could this maybe be when you switch users but don't completely log off the other user? Just switching users is quicker than logging off, but other user profile is running in background somewhat. I have switched users without logging off before and when I go back the user I wasn't using had downloaded email. So there is activity. So maybe a good idea to completely log one user off before changing users and IP?

Nice info on that post slapped. I read alot of those websites pertaining to this kind of info. I like this one paragraph:

Even the attempt to go stealthy could paradoxically make one more unique, and thus easier to track.

What you heard about Opera? I have IE8, Firefox 3.5, Chrome and Opera. I use them between dif accounts.

hold on guys...you could be spreading panic here. Im no computer whiz but im pretty sure linking by cookies (flash, regular, or even chocalate chip) cant be spread or seen between other user accounts.

I could be wrong but until the tin hat (vic) says its possible dont get everyone paranoid. I believe the best thing to do is stay as basic as possible... look like everyone else...be a BASIC everyday internet user ;)

MtnDew 07-20-2010 02:33 AM

ka-bump anyone want to weigh in here on the cookie leakage between user accounts?

also the super cookie theory up there...hmmm I believe maybe the government has that type of tech but come on if they used this on the majority of their accounts a good percentage would go down. -profit
