Default New Limits coming from Ebay...?

I keep reading about SS#'s being required with Ebay accounts, or at least by the time you sell a few thousand dollar's worth per month, etc... But everywhere I read something the information's different. Does anyone have a good handle on the selling limits before you have to add a SS# to your seller account? Or pending changes to Ebay that I can plan ahead for? Thanks!

ebay does not use SSNs. That's a paypal ploy.

You can view the seller updates, but planning ahead for eBay changes is HARD! Many times when they implement things, it does not go exactly right and it always causes problems and lost sales.

Starting in 2011, any payment processor (ie a merchant account or PayPal, etc.) who processes more than $20,000 per year in payments for you is required to report it to the IRS. So you DEFINITELY will have to supply an SSN if your sales go over that threshold. Ot at least an EIN, but I don't know if that will be acceptable.

As of right now, sometimes PayPal asks for the SSN and sometimes not. I'm not sure what their exact criteria is, but the higher risk the items, the more likely I believe it is for them to request it.
