From eBays FAQ "Limits on postage & packaging charges in Clothing & Shoes".

Quote:
5. I am an overseas seller and I sell into the UK. Will these changes affect me?

International sellers listing on the UK site will need to adhere to the P&P limits only for the first postage option to the UK. For example, if you are from Australia and you sell a pair of shoes into the UK, the maximum postage you can charge for the first postage option is £6.
I doubt you could even send flip flops to the UK from AUS for £6? :D

I know, they are expecting sellers to send some items for less than it costs to post. eg. a jacket or coat even within UK, 1st class is £6...they dont want you to profit at all from postage, it doesnt take in to account the packaging or your time to have it posted, THEY want all the profit to be incuded in the FV fee...its a profit thing purely...after all a buyer can choose not to buy something if it has a high postage

At least only eBay UK is getting burnt by this non-sense, they must be wanting to get rid of all international sellers and keep eBay UK only for UK based sellers.
