I got selling restriction due to bad selling performance. Anyone know how I can get rid of it quickly|

jerry 01-16-2011 09:13 PM

I have one account which I only sold about $180 on this month. When I went to list about $200 worth of items it gave me the alert saying that I had reached my limit for the month for that category. Is that a glitch or is there some way to get past this?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Actually, it says on ebay that if you have more than 400 transaction within three months you can have four disputes so that's a total of twelve disputes in a year if you have 1600 transactions a year.

For sellers who do less than 400 transactions you can have three disputes every three months.

Ebay should really get their heads out of their @sses and start benefiting the people who really make them money... the freakin sellers!

Does that mean if a seller has 1000 transactions in 12 months and 3 open cases, it's an automatic suspensions? I agree absolutely ridiculous. Ebay has evolved into an evil empire with no compassion for us small guys struggling to earn a few dollars.

I'm confused... What if you are selling something that will sell for more than $500? Say a PC. A used PC at that, but an awesome one? Not everyone is a damn career seller. SOME people actually use eBay for what it was initially intended for and that's to get rid of some sh*t you no longer want/need. What If I want to sell Grandma's antique pearls? Those will go for thousands! I never looked too much into this because I sell low cost items, but it's really F***in sh***y that they are doing this. When will someone finally put a legal foot up their ass?!

boycott is the solution....and get the word out via Twitter, Facebook

Excellent idea....we have to move to another sites....eBay is a monopoly

Yes, Ebay put that policy into effect a couple of months ago. It applies to new accounts, and I'm not sure how long it takes before they will increase the limit. As a matter of fact, the limit is for 10 items or $500 a month, whichever comes first. So, if you sell 2 items for $250, that's all that you can list. I even tried to sell a computer and because it was more thatn $500,
they wouldn't let me list it. This is really hard for new sellers. It's monopolizing business for their current big sellers, because this policy doesn't affect them

I quit selling on EBAY 2 months ago. I wish that sellers would just boycott EBAY and sell elsewhere, like Bonanza, Webstore and iOffer. I know that sellers stay with EBAY because of the traffic, but I wasn't making enough money to survive; so, it didn't matter anyway. If the sellers leave, the buyers will eventually follow. You just have to switch and get the word out via Twitter, Facebook or whatever social media that you use.

Good luck!

Do disputes that don't get escalated and the seller immediately refunds. Do those get counted against you as well? I hope not.

I have selling restriction ever due to the products I am selling, so the solution is:

- mutiple accounts, but not too many
- using the second chance offer, I usually make 40% more sales due to this legitimate feature and it's well accepted by buyers.

Just a heads up. On accounts that are older, where you've sold only 1 item maybe 2 years ago and then started listing now again, while you don't get a 10 items per month selling limit, don't try and list more than 10 per month anyways for the first 3 months, or at least until you get some feedback. I had 2 accounts with no selling feedback go down yesterday after I had listed the 11th item, with a MC081 notice.

I am curious... Is it from the date the item sells? Or the date you received the first feedback? I sold an item on 10/31, received feedback on november 5th for first time as a seller. I also created the account october 5th.So it has to do with the sales, because this account still has 10 items limit, unless it will reset feb 1st?

lagoonclub 01-17-2011 11:16 AM

I have a few accounts that have definitely passed the 90 day mark, but still have limits.

It's 3 months, from the sale date. eBay says 90 days, but I found it's more 5th to 5th or 21st to 21st, not an actual 90 days count.

jerry 01-17-2011 07:44 PM

No, they won't count against a seller.

I should mention something funny. On one of my Singapore accounts, which is only a little over 30 days old, I was able to list over 100 items in Antiques, while I was only able to list 10 items in Clothing. So this 10 items limit is category specific. You can list as much as you want in low-risk categories, such as Antiques, but you can't list more than 10 items per month in the first 90 days in high-risk categories.

That is very true. My account is only a couple of weeks old but I have listed 30 so far.. though am in the antique/vintage section so very low risk of course...

LoopHole 01-18-2011 11:00 PM

Ive been hit with the " you have reached your selling limit for this month" from ebay. There was an option that says" request higher selling limits" has anyone tried doing that, does it work? Or does it just raise a red flag?

holymoly 01-19-2011 03:37 PM

After a while...my thing has been around 20 positive feedback they increase you up to 100.

imjustme 01-19-2011 06:02 PM

I've had an account with 2 negatives and a 97% positive feedback increased to at least 200 items after 90 days. Go figure.

2 negatives and still 97%. How many selling transactions did you do in 90 days?

I sold exactly 30, but also bought a lot.

Daga 01-20-2011 04:44 PM

right before eBay suspended my account they have placed 100 items, or 3000$ max limit, whichever came first. Then the email stated that if I show to be a good seller I can apply by responding to their email and see if they can raise my limit but I could not do it until it was 30 days from getting the email.
I know they hate to be rushed so be careful, but I think it is worth the shot to be applying for the ability to sell more.

Good Luck

liimey 01-21-2011 09:04 AM

Canada has the same limits

I just listed 20 items on a 6 month old account that I only had 4 fb on with no problems.

So thinking I was onto something I grabbed another account that I had not sold a thing on and listed 15 things with no problem.

Must have something to do with aged older accounts they let go?
