| | | | | ebayhateluv | 01-23-2008 10:11 PM | PayPal STEPS... 1,2,3 :Tips + TRICKS... HI:
Well, For some of you, this is "no news"/ "old news", but we have alot of new folks on the forum who need immediate help...
A.) First and foremost, be certain you have already Verified your Paypal account BEFORE using it...
(this will avoid a pre-mature limitation) >>>>>>>ONCE AGAIN....First and foremost, be certain you have already Verified--BEFORE USING...!!! <<<<<<<
--WELL< How do I do this ??
I.) You need to do only "2" out of the "3"--the EASIEST 2 are:
1.) Give them a credit card--let them charge the $2.95, (expanded use fee)-- in 2-3 days, check your cc on line- or debit card-- get the 4 digit code, right by the line that says:
PAYPAL EXPANDUSE9999, therefore in this example,. the pin their are looking for is the "9999".
2.) Give them your checking acct info-- they will make 2 small deposits into that acct.
--again, wait a few days, go online, or call your bank, or stop in and ask for a statement printout for the last week..
--- Paypal would have placed 2 small deposits, they will say:
Paypal acct Verify .11, and Paypal acct verify .16
SO- Therefore you are going to input the amounts ".11", and ".16", into Paypal..
*****************NOW- You're Paypal account is VERIFIED********** |
| koalawash | 01-23-2008 10:19 PM | The 4-digit # always comes before the word "Paypal" in my experience. |
| ebayhateluv | 01-23-2008 10:21 PM | SECONDLY:
--Now that your Paypal account is Verified..now what?
a.) Take it slow,, build TRUST... Do not expect to start running Thosands of Dollars through this account, without some question..
b.) "If ME"--I would NOT DIRECT LINK this account to ANY ebay account...
--What do you mean by "direct link"??
>> Direct LINK IS BY choosing Auction Tools in Paypal + adding the Ebay account, as well as in Ebay, adding that Paypal directly..
--Now, YOu CAN simply place that email address in your auctions,
c.) Make SURE--DAILY-if you do not use Paypal shipping (+ i dont)--
--that you place the TRACKING NUMBERS in Paypal.. for EVERY SINGLE ORDER..
d.) Be Certain to NOT make alot of changes within your Paypal account as a New account holder, i.e. name, address, etc,,
e.) Make certain UP FRONT-- you have a Working Landline--that you can Verify with Paypal--its your Bread + Butter were talking about here--so
I PROTECT my Paypal accounts, more so, than my Ebay account
(I can go get an ebay account in about 30 minutes-by stopping at 7-11, then just sit in the school parking lot with my laptop....)
f.) Think about this BEFORE you make your Paypal account--
>> What will they ask me for?
>>> What name am I gonna use?
>> What address??
----- ALL of this info--Well thought out.. UP FRONT, will EXPEDITE any Limitation they throw at you....
(continued)--- |
| ebayhateluv | 01-23-2008 10:33 PM | THIRDLY-- PAYPAL LIMITATIONS--WHAT WILL THEY ASK FOR??
-- Well, Generally on a first time Limitation, they make it Easy...
A.) Tracking info for all recent shipments
B.) Verification of your Physical address- by calling you, and you answer- you get a PIN number from the Operator- then punch that in, on line..
C.) Supplier INfo-- Who is your Suppliers--Names/Addresses/ Products they supply
>> This should Naturally Correspond to what you are selling.. i.e. if you sell clothes--no sense sending in a bunch of invoices for Jewelry...
D.) And Normally, on a first Limitation, they will also pick 1 or 2 transactions, and may ask you for further info on them..
*** NOW, the Subsequent Limitation*** (After you get rolling)-- These by the way, come even on the Older 5 yr old+ accounts..
A>) Set a Credit Check address-- (this simply means--they WILL BE RUNNING A CREDIT CHECK ON YOU)..
B.) Supplier Info again.. They will really scrutinize them this time.. I usually send photos-- they now have an area in the Resolution Center to upload photos..
C.) Copy of Drivers License
D.) Copy of Utility Bill for your address ,a s they have on file
E.) Copy of the last 1-2 statements of the "Bank account" you have on file with them...
---FAX or Upload this info to Appeals dept..***
(IN the meantime, you may not---Withdraw any funds, close your account, etc.)
--This Review takes alittle longer, sometimes up to a week to 10 days...
END RESULT--
Either they un freeze, OR;
You will get an email--
"We;d like to make the transition as easy as possible,,,we do not want to do business anymore<etc., etc.)
********** NOW, What do you do with all this Info?? *************
WELL, Forewarned, is Forearmed...
(THINK... Get ORGANIZED.. Get your Ducks in a row,, Get your docs ready..)
Hope this helps..
** Theres more stuff, but I'm thinking off the top of my head right now.. Feel free to add..
Thanks + Good Luck!!! |
| MrJosh | 01-23-2008 10:37 PM | They almost always ask for your SSN too! I've never even made it to a 2nd limition because they always ask me for my SSN the first time and when I refuse, I get the "We will be parting ways" email. |
| aspkin | 01-23-2008 10:37 PM | Great information as always ebayhateluv!
Users really need to become confirmed and verified before jumping into eBay sales. You'll save your self tons of time later on figuring out what went wrong if you do. |
| koalawash | 01-23-2008 10:38 PM | What is the first suspension usually for? Is it the standard "abusing eBay" garbage? |
| MrJosh | 01-23-2008 10:39 PM | Paypal never suspends anyone or expels anyone for that matter! They are permanently limited---and, according to their own TOS, they retain your info for LIFE! |
| ebayhateluv | 01-23-2008 10:42 PM | So:
What I am saying here ...
Theres NO SENSE in going into the Paypal end of it.. 1/2 ways...(KNOW up front what you're facing, gather or know you can gather this info)--
I.E. If its your brothers , neighbors, bosses, daughters info,,
and theres no way on this earth you can get her
drivers license 2,3,6 months from now, Re-Think it!
You will ONLY get YOUR MOney stuck there for 180 days!!!! |
| MrJosh | 01-23-2008 10:44 PM | Oh, I called paypal today (AH!) about another account -- again, playing dumb! They love it!! lol --- anyways, the phone I called on and used *67---they asked me to put my phone number in, etc--- I did---brought my account up (new acct) and then it said (the computer), "We noticed your not calling from your primary phone, would you like us to add this number to your account?" ---- AHHHHHHH
I hung up, lol --- and 4 hours later ACCOUNT LIMITED!!!!
They know what number you are calling from even with *67! (yes, the phone was my home phone and it was registered to my original paypal acct from back in the day which is of course permantnely limited) |
| coolandcalm | 01-23-2008 10:51 PM | Sorry for your trouble, but it is a good lesson for the rest of us, as little contact with paypal as possible. |
| MrJosh | 01-23-2008 10:58 PM | The contact is fine - just make sure you use the exact number you give them --- remember guys, think like we are new to this --- if its only been a couple weeks since we've opened a paypal account, we would be curious about every little thing! I like to call if I know I am going to get a boost of money to them---i might say something like "im interested in expanding my business and wanted to know if i could use paypal on my own site because my eBay customers just love it, etc etc etc" They typically respond like, oh yes, definately! Let me update your acct with that info
I.E. When more $$$ comes in, they are expecting it to! |
| ebayhateluv | 01-23-2008 10:58 PM | Yes, Josh Paypal + Ebay must have some of the Worlds Best Software Engineers, Forensics Specialists.... - - I Imagine a Flow Chart in their LP offices.. with Aspkins Name at the top (like the Mafia Boss).. just kidding! :) |
| MrJosh | 01-23-2008 11:00 PM | They do! My friend who use to work for them said the software and security they now employ is comparable to that of the CIAs in terms of processing capabilities! |
| wmugrad05 | 01-23-2008 11:59 PM | wow I don't know how in the world they still saw your number on their screen after hitting *67 that scares me! so did they permanantely limit your account after that? I spoke to them over the phone twice a couple of days ago calling from a different number than on my account without any questions, I guess it depends on who you get. |

So whenever you call a toll free number dont even try to use *67 because it doesnt work at all with toll free numbers |

Did you dial an 800# ? There's a different method for blocking that. I think it's called ANI trace. I heard it once back it 1996 and don't remember it now. |

Wait a minute...youre saying that if you give them the information, all they can do is
a) Set you up as normal again
OR
b) Freeze your account and give you back your money in 6 months (by check i guess)?
Complications/Permutations -
What if you *dont* give them all the information. What if you just confirm the address (utility bill) and phone number? Do they cut you off from your cash permanently then? |
| ebayhateluv | 01-31-2008 06:28 PM | Hi-Anyone else want to chime in? -In my personal dealings with them...Yes,exactly.if they don't get the laundry list-money stays limited..Then after they get it..They can still decide to keep acct frozen..Or,they unfreeze till 2,3,6 months from now-when You're pretty comfy...and you've got $3000-$5000 sitting in there on a sunday night after a bunch of closed auctions...That's when they Freeze u again.. -Have a 6 yr pp acct-been frozen about 12 times-so that's avg. every 6 months... -That's why we're all Brainstorming in here...trying to protect our families assets..our Ca$h! Good Luck ;) |

c.) Make SURE--DAILY-if you do not use Paypal shipping (+ i dont)--
--that you place the TRACKING NUMBERS in Paypal.. for EVERY SINGLE ORDER
How do you do this in PP? Are you talking about the "check shipment" field under account activity?
Thanks! |
| ebayhateluv | 02-05-2008 04:18 PM | HI- IN the main screen, where you see pyts recd-- then it says the amt, click on the blue link-
--you will get the whole screen, with customers info--scroll down to the bottom---you will see 4 or 5 blue links (words)--
--one is refund buyer, another is remove shipping link, another is "add tracking info"
--click on that-- then use the drop down...ups or usps or other..add your tracking info--hit submit..
Good Luck! :) |

| I remove my money from Paypal as soon as it is in the account. I have had too many accounts frozen with money in them and I never got it back. |

Now I want to lift the $500 monthly limit on my account.
Should I give PayPal my Simon Gift Card? this is the same card I added to my eBay account with no problems.
My Simon gift card is the physical card, not the virtual card.
I guess my main concern is this....will PayPal know my Simon Gift Card is one of those non reloadable cards and reject my card?
Thanks! |

| GoingToWinTheEbayWar | 04-20-2008 04:13 PM | PayPal is asking me to do two things:
1 - Provide SS
2 - Enter address that matches SS
My account is limited with the only restriction "Can not close account." If I ignore the SSN request, will they impose further limitations? If not, I'm just going to press on and continue to withdrawal daily. I also need to add a bank to lift my send limit, but don't want to waste a good acct knowing that they may limit my PayPal more if I ignore their request.
Thanks |
| divine422 | 04-20-2008 04:59 PM | Its best you move on... if your account isnt limited yet it will eventually be limited as soon as any money goes through your account. If you SS is linked to another account then your done. |
| Thechronicles | 04-20-2008 04:59 PM | thanks, great info. |
| GreenBean | 04-21-2008 04:03 AM | ...ebaywar, What do you want to do with the account? If it is a selling account, can you
get a merchant account? Quite a few things to consider B4 walking away, I think. |
| ebayaintstupid | 04-27-2008 02:22 PM | They never limited either of my accounts... just took down every associated EBAY account and any new EBAY account created and linked to them. Making them both essentially useless. |

| So this is different than "linking ebay and paypal accounts" which I have read is required after 10 listings?
In my experience they have only limited international shipping options and particular brand names. Not sure what new changes have occurred. Anyway, I need to link that clean PP account to my new ebay account....but NOT "direct link"?
What would be the benefit of someone doing a "direct link" if it is different from "linking ebay and PP accounts".
Also, I have a PP account which is very old since PP first opened. It once had a suspended ebay account attached to it. Is this account perm. tainted? Should I start a new PP, link with ebay, but take payments (by simply entering the email) in my old account which is unlimited? (thus avoiding problems with limitations?)
I really appreciate any help with this right now... |
| georgesmith | 07-28-2008 04:48 PM | Creating a new paypal acct Id like to create another paypal account.
Tips?
I don't care if it gets limited after a few days of receiving payments, but not after the first payment received.
New address not used with a ppal account, real phone number?
thanks. |
| generalgeorgie | 07-28-2008 11:31 PM | I've never even seen a place mentioning 'expanded use' for a credit card. I just used the bank account and listed the 2 small deposits and was verified.
Where do I find the 'expanded use' ? Do I really need it now ? |
| asim7766 | 07-30-2008 03:18 PM | paypal is asking me to provide 4 steps to remove my limitation. i opened a new account with a new name and address. i can confirm 3 of the steps but the 4th asking me for my ssn? will i be remove from limitation if i don't provide that?
need answers asap.
thanks. |

*****************NOW- You're Paypal account is VERIFIED********** | Your info was incorrect for me.
First- The fee was only $1.95 and they refund it within 24 hours of verification.
Second- The number they wanted was the FIRST 4 numbers. So, let's say your number was 5462PAYPAL *EXPUSE 2215334622.
The number they wanted from me was 5462.
Using your info freaked me out  because when I entered the wrong number, I stated that I would need to use another card if the incorrect numbers were entered, but if you go to account info and then back into it, it will let you re-enter another pin number. WHEW, SCARY. But now my $500. limit has been lifted. :)
Hope this helps ! |
| generalgeorgie | 07-31-2008 02:19 PM | Oh yeah.... I guess you can see the EXPANDED USE option. haha |
| generalgeorgie | 07-31-2008 02:20 PM | I'm a dummy.... "I FOUND" the expanded use. |
| Claire Voyant | 08-14-2008 03:16 PM | HI everyone! I am new at this. When did Paypal start asking for SS#? I opened an account in May, they never asked for it, account was verified on the Paypal site. Another quick question.I was suspended 7 years ago with my real info. My Paypal can beconnected with a restricted account where my step daughter sent me money. I am going tomorrow to get a new checking account, can I get a 2nd Paypal account? Also have to use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name on 2nd one? By the way, I only sell vintage patterns and fabric, so I am not a big $ amount dealer :)
Thanks in advance |
| ebayhateluv | 08-14-2008 06:31 PM | HI Claire--Welcome!
Well-- this and many other questions are answered more in depth in Aspkins Ebook, Stealth..
I can quickly answer a few of your questions:
a.) SSN-- Paypal has always asked for this from me, at on etime or another--or maybe your volume has never set off any triggers yet??
b.) 2nd pp acct-- well, if u are current with them and ebay--yes, iVE HAD A PERSONAL PP ACCT AS WELL AS A PREMIERE BUSINESS ACCT
c.) if-u get restricted by ebay-then pp goes down, and vice versa | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:36 PM. | |
