what is the point? All you need to do is run seperate windows user accounts on one single partition and you are set. Your pretty much wasting hard drive space for no reason what so ever.

Its a little different. Actually, its a lot different.

You can control various things that are not shared from user to user like hardware, browser, browser settings and plugins, operating system, ect

There is much more to what they look at than IP and cookies...

It also affords you much more room for user accounts if desired.

Another thing that you MUST NOT Forget is that It is MUCH EASIER to manage Multiple accounts for Ebay as it is for Amazon,,,,,,,, so what might be Considered "Overkill" for Ebay May NOT WORK at all for Amazon,,,The Method I Described above was devoleped SPECIFICALLY for Dealing with Multiple Amazon Accounts as Effeciently as Possible,,,It also works with Great Ebay,,But I Do Admit that for Ebay it is Ovewrkill,,

Here is the method I use for my Amazon & eBay accounts and works great for me. I have several netbooks and they are all running Windows XP. I have 10 partitions on each hard drive with 10 different windows setups. This way every time I boot into one partition my MAC has already been changed with SMAC and do not have to do it again. I have DropBox installed on all my Windows XP installs with my Used IP’s & MAC addresses in an excel file with shortcuts dragged to the desktop. This makes it possible for me to have all my IP’s that I have used synced with all my computers. I am also running a wireless router running tomato firmware, so I can spoof my MAC address for each of my accounts very fast. This method works for me and DropBox has saved me lots of headaches.

Question, how much hard drive space do you allocate to each partition? this seems like an ideal setup.

I've done as little as 15gig with no problems. The setups are basic bare bones so dont need a ton of space

I have partitions with as little as 10GB.

I do 20GB but honestly as long as its enough space to hold the windows install and install a couple applications it doesn't matter how small it is.

Installing multiple operations systems gets tedious, does anyone know how to install an OS and install the apps you want and then clone that OS and reinstall it over and over. I know you will need to go back and change certain things to make it unique but I think it would save time.

Why are you doing all that work for nothing in the first place? All you need to do it have 1PC with multiple user accounts, with a different IP and you are safe.

You must be confused. a "MAC" Address is a unique number assigned to each hardware component within your computer. That number DOES NOT change. You must be referring to your IP address...either way, eBay and PayPal do not monitor your computers MAC address as they do not have permission from microsoft to get around windows firewall to do so. Im not sure why everyone on this thread is installing multiple operating systems, it will not protect you anymore then simply installing multiple user accounts. Trust me, I would know as I have been working with computers since I was 12, am a skilled computer programmer, builder, website owner, among other things.

There is a huge difference. And no offense, if you are as computer literate as you say, you would have spotted them a mile away

Different browser configurations. Whatever you do to firefox it will spread to every user account. They will all have the same plug-ins and settings.

Hardware can be enabled or disabled from OS to OS. User accounts can not do that. Net cards, modems, routers, etc, all automatic

I have my hardware setup for a couple of my main accounts that are already setup. When I boot into that OS it grabs the right router info and I dont have to mess with anything at all. It can actually be very effective and very efficient

It has all the advantages to user accounts and many more. So, not the same, at all.

I am referring to Amazon not eBay or Paypal. It is a known fact that Amazon monitors and tracks peoples "MAC" address. This is the reason we change it with SMAC. Please read the Amazon Stealth book if you are still confused. The reason I install multiple operating systems is because Amazon is known to do browser fingerprinting and with this they can pinpoint computer name, fonts installed, system resolution and the list goes on and on......Go to panopticlick.eff.org and read up.

Not sure exactly how the process works but couldn't you create an image? Isn't that how the big IT shops do it when they have to install for multiple machines?
