Activity: 0% Longevity: 79% | | Rookie mistake SSN verification
Ok so I had an acct that was shut down with my social security number attached 180 day hold bs. Me and a friend opened up another acct in his name in october and I am now just verifying the ssn to
Lift the withdrawal limits. When I went to enter it I entered mine instead of my friends and the error message popped up and said that social security number is already used on another acct. Need some
insight guys. What's going to happen

Agree - though pa yp al won't accept your number for the account, it does NOT mean it's not recorded. That could become an issue later on if you get limited. Start frsh.

Knowing that Pa yp al keeps any info entered, I would safely say you are 100% linked. I wish I could say otherwise but from my own experiences with playing around, I feel that this is the case.
That being said, sure you could operate for a while but I think you would have a hard time getting cash out without being limited.

It is not safe to enter your friend's SSN. When you entered yours, that linked the accounts. This is not like entering a transposed digit or something similar. That plus the fact you are likely both in the same area will definitely do the account in. I wouldn't want to have too much money coming into this account or sitting in it.

Well I'm trying to withdraw the money that's in the account. I did this without thinking. Entering my own SSN was just instinct. As soon as i did it I knew I F'd up. Its not limited yet. Fingers crossed.

Hold on a second....
NEVER use a social security number on a paypal account. EVER.
You do not need to add a social to get the withdrawal limit removed. Why would you give this number to paypal? you're not required to in order to use their service!
Two of three things must be added to lift the withdrawal limit... credit card, bank account, and social. ONLY TWO of those three things must be added. I would never ever ever ever give paypal your social. I gave them mine years ago, and it didn't give me the least bit of an advantage with them whatsoever. They use it to track you, and check your credit! adding this could get your account shut down immediately if you don't meet their fico criteria. That's just ONE reason to not use it.
Now if you file to open a business and use a tax ID, that's another story. I HIGHLY recommend doing that. This way the paypal account is in a business name anyway, and totally separate from you. (for the most part)

You can do it on the IRS website in about 5 minutes.
To file for a business is very easy in most states. If you're in a rush just do it online. There are a ton of law firms that will do it all for less than 500 dollars.

Also if you are thinking ahead towards 2011, you may need to go down that path.
Users should not be wombats 'eats roots shoots and leaves'.

But yes, the most successful of stealth accounts last for years and years. In fact, the very first one I started after reading eBay Stealth is still well alive and strong. Tax ID is the way to go to stay legal, legit and active.

I think, sometimes, PAYPAL/EBAY will ask for SSN too, even if you provide the EIN. Quote:
