| rio382 | 08-23-2013 09:35 AM | ah just pointing out we dont always know what info we share unaware until someone shares an experience |

Leave work at home so you don't have customers calling you when you are out and about.. Sort of annoying..
And of course they will be used as an advertising mechanism and such.. And worse if our government ever takes a dive for the worst. |

| katastrofic | 03-25-2014 08:50 PM | Re: Mac address I don't believe either company can ascertain your MAC, unless like stated above a java applet is being employed by your system
I took a network connectivity course when I attended ITT and there's way too many hops to be even remotely close to their servers
I'd say we're all safe, for now.. |

| muzzie | 03-22-2015 04:58 AM | Re: Mac address MAC can be revealed only by running a Java or other app, that runs outside your browser, so EB itself can't see your MAC. Actually, noone can see your MAC, except a nearby computer, that is connected to your computer with a direct UTP cable. But! Technically, Auctivia or TurboLister apps can send your MAC to EB, but noone knows for sure, and doing reverse engineering on these apps "just for fun" is a huge overkill. |

I am using zebra LP 2844 to print out shipping labels, the label printer requires Java app in order to print from ebay/paypal. Does that mean ebay/paypal see my MAC address every time I print shipping labels? | Interesting, can someone answer this. |

you say....Auctivia or TurboLister apps can send your MAC to EB, I agree any 3rd party app like these might, so the safe way is never use EB apps.
A reliable MAC changer I use is TMAC V6.0 and its free :-)
To be clear Im not stating TMAC will help with EB apps to hide MAC but where you need to change a MAC it does the job well. |

Its like downloading say a financial calculator on your PC from the government to help to make your tax returns.......do you really trust its only a calculator???
NO EB / PP apps = No Chance of seeing your MAC |

Interesting, can someone answer this. | Very risky practise if you have something to hide like a MAC and if Im correct they have remote java scripting access, but I have not used these apps nor would I. EB/PP could be a potential trojan horse to get MAC and other info as you allow permissions to run apps on your PC.
I use the phrase Trojan loosely to describe allowing a 3rd party app to run on your system. You install they collect? ALL very feasible in my eyes. |
Re: Mac address To date, eB has not been known to track MAC address. |
| RosieTosie | 03-27-2015 07:52 PM | Re: Mac address Plenty of info on here that neither platform can see MAC addresses, the platforms are just not developed enough to be able to do that, and they never will be able to do in our lifetimes and that is absolutely 100% all that matters. |

| RosieTosie | 03-29-2015 08:47 AM | Re: Mac address Well that might have been more of a hopeful comment of mine rather than one with naoiled on conviction rsot. Ceratainly no signs that this situation is likely to change in the foreseeable future might have been a better way of putting Ugo on my part I would say now, definatlely not one for people to be concerned about their the extent that previous commenters on this thread have suggested. | | All times are GMT -5.
