Default do you have to log off or switch user?

I was wondering if you had to log off between different user accounts, or weather it was ok to just switch user? obviously logging off would close down all your web pages and everything else that was open. However switching user accounts would mean all that info would still be running, there for a risk of linking? I was unsure, thanks.

I have been switching user accounts without logging off and have not been linked so from my experience, makes no difference - everything like cookies and info are stored separately.

I log off because my old pooter freezes up if I just switch users. The Lumberjack probably has a lot better info than me though

I also usually 'switch user' and only 'log off' when my machine begins to slow down. Too many user accounts

Just get into the routine of changing your network/IP between switching accounts. Sounds simple, but I know many slip up with switching users.

I have HD and wifi card for each of my accounts. With used 2.5" HD and wifi cards going for next to nothing, I can afford a few pairs.

I get to keep all my login credential, cookies, pictures, and turbolister. As far as eB can see, it's the same friggin person logging into the same account every time. Mistakes are minimum since I never have to type in my email address or username, it's all saved.

I do have to replace my down arrow on my pos nb. It's gone missing from overuse.

Doesn't matter if you log out of eB or not, but it's a good practice to shut the browser down before switching.

1. frees up system resources.
2. If your browser is open on a listing that ends, the script will force the page to refresh, sending a new http request to eB. If you're already on a different Windows profile, the request will send from the new IP.

For a demo, find an eB listing that's about to end and watch the the timer ticks down. When it hit's 0 secs, it'll refresh.

A hard drive for each account?

What are the costs? And isn't it time consuming shutting off laptop, taking OUT HD to pt in a new one, etc...?

Used HD's are dirt cheap especially IDE ones. Swapping is fast if nothing is screwed in. Did I mention I use a POS NB? That doesn't stand for point of sales, so I don't really care.

Once a while I would pull the HD out while it's still on, but it just keeps on ticking. I also have other means of accessing my accounts so it works.

I LOG OFF just to make sure nothin gets by like ip or some type of futuristic cookies or anything at all instead of just leaving the account "up" and just switching... it doesn't take any more time to go from one account to another when Logging off.. plus makes your pc run a little faster

Problem I have is I use different router for my stealth account - at the moment maybe im being over paranoid but I :

- log off user account
- disconnect modem and router
- change router and reconnect
- log into stealth user account

It takes bit of time as when I want to swtich back do same again sometimes with computer restart - anyone got any tips on any way to speed things up when using 2 routers up ?

Id love to have my main modem (as its faster) on all time and just use secondary modem for stealth account at same time.

Always good to be paranoid and safe than sorry later and trying to find out what went wrong. But my level of paranoia is low.

@stillselling, yeah that is the main reason I always log out of eBay, as I use the same internet connection for my accounts and obviously a page reloading would use the current IP.
