HMMM... Bank Account

i JUST GOT THIS MESSAGE FROM PAYPAL....

Dear ... ,

On , we attempted to transfer from your bank account, ending in ... . This transfer was returned by your bank on 28 Jun 2011 for the reason below:

This is an invalid bank account number.

As a result, this bank account has been disabled from your PayPal account. Please contact your bank for more information or add a new bank account. Please do not contact PayPal because this is entirely an issue between the account holder and their bank.

Yours sincerely,

PayPal

I cant remember if this has happened to my other accounts previously

im still verified on paypal, this hasnt downgraded me... now which bank can i use so this error message doesnt come again?

is there any implications for this towards my account?

isitworththestress 06-29-2011 04:35 AM

If you know the bank number is right and is not one that does not offer direct debits and stuff, like a savings account, then it probably just means you did not have funds in your account to cover what ever amount they were trying to take

just add the same account and see what happens. But you will have to go through the two amount thing again, as if it is a new account.

smellybelly 06-29-2011 04:38 AM

i dont no wot funds they were trying to take out...?

u cant re-add a blocked sort code n account number

im confused because ive used e-savings accounts before

GrannyT 06-29-2011 04:51 AM

Savings accounts will not accept the DD. This has been well documented on the forums. Sometimes it works for a few weeks (don't know why) and sometimes it doesn't.

There are plenty of current accounts out there that do work - see subscriber discussions

:pop2:

smellybelly 06-29-2011 04:54 AM

ok

will this effect my paypal account now this has happened in any way shape or form?
/

and why do you think my bank disabled it? becoz it was a stealth or something?

GrannyT 06-29-2011 05:20 AM

Your bank disabled it because they do not accept DDs

Time to go to work and get an account that will do the job,

Imakemoney 06-29-2011 05:47 AM

yep thats it then, savings account do not accept the DD mandate as GT wisely says.

ALL savings accounts get kicked at some point.

For long standing stealth accounts try to use current accounts. Ones that i would reccommend are:

-Cooperative
-Natwest
-RBS

I have added the bank account back again after a failure before a few times, they don't seem to stop it. It is only if it is linked to another account they seem to stop it.

The Co-Op account mentioned above you can do online

I think someone says they used their ISA but not tried it personally.

Imakemoney 06-29-2011 05:55 AM

when you say you re-added it was it a savings? and did you re-add it to exactly the same account?

ISA's dont have a DD facility either.

rsot 06-29-2011 05:58 AM

Had this problem before with Savings - must be chequing or as you folx say `Current`=)

smellybelly 06-29-2011 06:35 AM

didnt wanna start a new topic...

but

(i have a confirmed address on paypal... i do not live there and i am thinking of buying stuff off of ebay... but i need an actual address i no to send it to so i can obviously collect it...)

(if i add another address to paypal... will it instantly show as confirmed, or will i have to do some things to confirm it? and will it get limited becoz there is more than 1 address?)

GrannyT 06-29-2011 06:46 AM

This is very simple - I do this with all my stealth accounts

Go into Paypal and add another address. The name should match your stealth name. Thus if your stealth name is Nobby Knobrot you make the new address to Mrs. J Knobrot. (She's your mother isn't she? She doesn't know how to use a computer so you buy things for her don't you? It's much easier to have them delivered straight to her isn't it?)

For the address you use the address you want the items delivered to BUT you alter it slightly - that has been well documented on the forum - but sufficiently so that it will get to you at the address you want.

When you go to pay with Paypal you will see that you can change the address for delivery. From the drop down box pick the address you want.

One of my accounts has 6 addresses on it (Don't ask!)

Simples:pop2:

Why do that? You will only bring attention where none is needed. So why do that?:pop2:

smellybelly 06-29-2011 07:23 AM

i see your point. . .

ISA's dont have a DD facility either.

I only ever use current accounts and it is adding the same bank number after having to switch off the direct debit, normally due to paypal trying to take from my bank rather than paypal funds when refunding. Returns

Like I say I have never used the ISA just others have said they have.

The address problem is a pain, as I never buy off ebay but have to deal with returns normally two weeks after they have used it.
They only ever return to the address they paid to, so it is a case of select an address that is usable or one of those you pay for.

Most ISA's do, the problem with them accounts is that you can only have so much money go through them and you need to provide you NI number to open them which in turn can have it's own complications.

Imakemoney 07-02-2011 09:43 AM

Do most ISA's have a DD facility TizWoz?

Which would you reccommend then?

That may be a problem for many people with regards the NI number as you state yes. Especially if some of you naughty people arnt paying taxes :suspicious:

Stigger 07-02-2011 04:56 PM

I don't reccommend any, i was simpley saying that most isa's do accept DD's

i have used lloyds and halifax myself in the past.
