Hi

What's people's opinions on what I should do if someone is clearly using my photos. These are watermarked with my user name which is clearly visible in his post

Cheers

Well at the end of the day you dont really want your potential customers seeing two sets of the same photos with different sellers - in my opinion you just loose some credibility. Plus reporting them will leave you with less competition to worry about.

Personally I do not think reporting them puts you above the radar or so to speak so you should be fine in that aspect.

No, you would not be kicking up a fuss about it. It's one of the few areas where ebay will do something (99% of the time).

YOU are entitled to protect your own work.

Dont forget, you have an ebay account that by coincidence is stealth. You still have rights. Polite approach with the listing etc, should have a successful result for you

Another thought...He might be a suspended user trying to change his format, pictures, etc. I had a rep from Ebay tell me that when they try to link one account to the other, they look at the pictures and everything about the listings. It's a stretch but I would report it just to be sure!

It is strange that you are selling the exact same things as the other seller..

On my PC all you have to do is save the page to your desktop and it will be in a folder of all kinds of crap in it. The photo is one of the items. Then you can copy it from that. I havent done it for a few months but did when I tried it that way.

as for the OP's photos, definitely turn them in. I have done that many times and EVERY time they get them removed. Doesnt even matter if they are marked. If you have been using it and they see its clearly a photo that you have been using they will end their auctions and warn them. Unless maybe you are claiming a website photo that everyone else is using as yours.

Not the best thing to do but this happened to me (again) the other day....

I was in a bad mood anyway and noticed some fella took my picture and wording and his were selling like hotfire!

The sellers listing had his phone number and name + address (non-stelter).

Rang the git as he clearly knew what he was doing when he took my pics and wording.

Now I was in a bad mood already so I rang from untraceable mobile and sim at about 3am and told the git some serious things.

Believe me, his took his listing off within minutes.

This is not the proper way to deal with things so I do not advise my course of action.
You should contact eb, and they sort it out quickly as they check the dates etc. on who listed first......

..... saying that, once I reported someone for using my pics/wording but eb took their side as my listing was made after his, but my original listing from where he stole from was made weeks before his but they do not look at that so one must play it smart when contacting them about this matter..... hope that made sense.

You can usually find good enough photos in google images or even other auction sites.

Well i thought initially id give the guy a chance and asked him to change them all i got off him was a barage of foul language and told to get a real job and get off ebay, So i have reported him to ebay who have asked me to provide the item listing number which i have done. I still cannot believe they need this since the pictures are watermarked.

He got my pictures off google he says which is not suprising because for some reason my images from my listing are appearing in google images. Anyway this guys peeing me off.

I up for anyone making an honest mistake but his rudeness and blatant disrespect for other people deserves him to get a ban

Ebay needs the item number so they can investigate and look at the member's other auctions.

Are the pictures stock photos? Ebay frowns on using them. Take your own personal pictures.

Depends on what the item is, ebay has a whole catalog of stock photo's for everyone to use and many top rated sellers use nothing but stock photos but yeah if your new it couldn't hurt to take your own photo's and ecspecially if it's a high ticket item then yes taking your own photo's would be good in that case.
