Default Reporting Another Seller

If a competitor has copied my eB@y listing pictures (my own PS'ed images) and I were to report them, I'm assuming that this would result in a manual review of my account?

Has anyone had experiences with their accounts going down after filing a report?

I currently have one PP dispute on this account.

Were you selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ items? If so that may have done it. I wouldn't bother reporting anyone on a copied listing unless you feel your items are genuine. Was his posting at a cheaper price? If so lower your price. I've never really had any issues like that but I hope it works out for you.

No it doesn't. The department who is in charge of reviewing reports have nothing to do with account reviews

Well Honestly,,I Do Not Roll that way,,,and Truthfully,,,I Do not think you should either,,,I Know that being a "Stand up Guy" is getting more and more "Old School" everyday but I do think that it helps create some Integrity in a Person,,,

I would contact the other Seller and threaten to report which will result in his suspension from ebay for infringment if he does Not create his own listing,,and try to get it done some kind of way with Direct communication rather than involving Ebay,,Besides you might as you fear invite ebay to take a closer look at your account,,,which might not be a Good thing for you,,

Yes, lost an account just after joining here. Never again.
slapped gives his usual great advice.

But for your own peace of mind, watermark your listings. There are a couple of little surprises you can add, that will show up should another seller copy your photos.

Nomatter what you do to an account it gets attention to whatever you do. If you don't want attention to an account for any reason don't do it and just email the other seller asking them nicely to remove the photos of you will report them if you want. I myself would leave it alone and create another photo and watermark it with the username if you don't want that trouble again.

Is there a good package that is easy to use that can give professional looking watermarks on your pictures?

I 'watermark' my images by writing text then adding a slight shadow and then making the text transparent so only the shadow remains.

You can quite clearly see what the text says without ruining the image.

Within a week of one my listing being removed someone else had the same thing listed with an identical looking listing. They had copied and pasted all the text, images everything, didn't even bother change the colour of the text etc. I was hopping mad but there was nothing I could do

Since then I watermark all of my images etc

Preferable to have your own 'unique' watermark

You would likely get a manual review. I usually just ignore other listings like that. Karma. Let those shady sellers bury themselves. In the future, start using watermarks. Auctiva is great for this.

there are things you can do to change the whole image, so when its in the thief's listing it can change in to something very offensive, causing allot of reports to eby.

With my luck i have experienced this about 4 times now. Tried contacting the seller each time. Worked only once. Reported the rest and my accounts are still going strong.

The way i see it is, you have nothing to hide so don't be scared to report. In my eyes is just looks like your an honest seller and that your not scared to show your name to the closer eye of eb*y. B

I took your advice and I've run into another problem.

I contacted the seller and he has threatened to report me in return for "suggesting that [he] stole [my] images"

That's why it's best to just stick to my advice. Ignore these jerkoffs... Otherwise, you have to do a stealth attack. So it sounds like you just messaged him from your seller account? You should have messaged him from some BS buyer account.. Then you would have the upper hand. Just hope that he doesn't have a BS buyer account to give you a negative FB...

That is why its just best to report them and say nothing to them. Like i said when this happend to me it only worked 1 out of 4 times. That is why i always just report without even thinking about asking them to remove the photos. There is no reason why you need to take the extra time to ask them to take the photos down. They did NOT take the photos themselves. Which means they should not be using them. It pisses me off when people use my photos. That is why i enjoy reporting them. Buy a camera and take your own damn photos.

I read again on what you said, and i don't see any problems here. He has nothing to report you for. Reporting you suggesting that he stole the images???? Good luck with trying to report that to eb*y. And if he does, its not hard for eb*y to tell who used the images first.

Even if I messaged him from a BS account, wouldn't he already know who I am?

I know this sounds really bad but I would personally agree with LoopHole. I feel the same way about this. They steal our images knowingly and it's not like they had the best of intentions anyway so why should we?

I also feel like most attempts to resolve the issues with the seller would result in similar disputes. They don't give up easily

Yea, that's a good point. If you want to do something, just anonymously report them.
