How many accounts have been involved with a specific supply a landline request that were being run on VPS?

Did any of the accounts run on both VPS and DSL?

Not meaning to be confusing, did you interchange internet access for paypal usage?

I have a feeling but need more info.

This is not an error or stealth mistake it is just what paypal does

I am going to support Danshan here....There is not so much about avoiding this call, but about passing the verification.

This happens on real non-stealth accounts with substantial history behind them on both Ebay and Paypal. Accounts that are 5+ years old and have everything on file SS+bank+CC....and not even a hint of a VBA or VCC, all real brick and mortar bank/credit cards. On such accounts, PayPal most of the time asks for a full number of the credit card or bank account on file once you press "cancel" on the phone confirmation page. Try pressing cancel on your accounts if there is history behind them and they have a bank or credit card on file.

Thing is, it is a ridiculous check(the landline part specifically), as many real non-stealth users have experienced it and complained about it...it is on various forums on the net.

The gas station trick surprised me, to be honest, as the phone number would be landline, but couldn't possibly pass the match on name or address...why would PP call the number then? Those who tried it, was the number the same area code, zip code as the address on file with PP?

Seems a direction would be to look towards business numbers then.

And to Greenbean, it does happen often after a period of dormancy or IP/computer change with the account in question...BUT...it also happened to me on legit accounts as described above, that has seen nothing but one IP/computer for years...once a withdrawal request has been made and tripped some internal amount limit.

Explain why people who do NOT have the issue need to deal with it?

Other USA users are posting they are not having issues and can get accounts made without this issue of a landline for paypal.

Have you posted your methods anywhere & what happened to cause this?

It's a problem because you are making it a problem, Your trying to Verify a "STEALTH" account! Just do 2-3 day verification, I promise it won't hurt.

Has nothing to do with confirming bank it is to confirm location

Im not sure why but no one will give this secret out

MM78 05-14-2013 09:55 AM

Since when do you need to verify your location with a phone? maybe you mean Ebay??? I've made a few hundred Paypal accounts and never had to verify location with Paypal...Yes you need to add a phone number but never had paypal call me.

danshan 05-14-2013 11:10 AM

it is a very normal limitation many people have it

mercurial333 05-14-2013 01:34 PM

Still doing the landline thing in 2013.

Lol paypal.

danshan 05-14-2013 01:35 PM

danshan 05-26-2013 11:53 AM

Bump to see if anyone can help

Pasicel 05-27-2013 12:12 AM

I've seen this question around the forum as well, and I've never understood it because I've never ran into this??

Weird, but hopefully one of us can figure it out

danshan 05-27-2013 09:01 AM

That's a bit more info from you. Can not say you ever mentioned that on this thread...

Activity on the paypal account such as soft holds & paypal says supply a working phone number which you describe as needing to be a land-line.

danshan 05-27-2013 09:25 AM

It is not the number you need to create an account it comes in two forms from paypal

1 when you try to buy something or checkout
You get a screen that says we need to call you and it asks you to enter a phone number and unlike the sign up phone number it cant be vumber, gv, tracfone or any cellular that i have found so far and not a voip number
2 in the limits page when you get limitations on an account it says confirm location and when you click confirm location it takes you to a screen like in scenario 1 and same requirements

GreenBean 05-27-2013 09:31 AM

So in effect over-riding an existing phone number of any sorts that has been on the account since it was made?

:spy:

danshan 05-27-2013 09:34 AM

It does not even add the number to your account. I called paypal last time and they told me there were no alternatives but i have read on other forums you can send in utility bilks but i have not had that exoerience especially during checkout when you get it
