That makes sense.. I mean basically the plan is to sit a bunch of my antiques in a booth with top dollar price tags. So they can roast and maybe get a sale or two while they are selling for less on ebay.

Certain item bring lots more money then on ebay and some do not.

Juggling act knowing where to sell items. I actually try to sell the better items in a mall, if they do not sell the first month or two I bring them home and put them on ebay.

I work my booths, never dead products sitting collecting dust. I move items around, put fresh items in the booth etc.

Many do not work their booths and therefore pay the price.

That reminds me of an episode of "Hoarders: Buried Alive". There was that older guy who was a hoarder but he hoarded a lot of antiques and vintage items. He actually had a booth at what I think you guys would call an antique mall. The owner of the mall said his prices were way too high and his merch was not fresh. So many customers just would walk right passed.

I don't think he really sold anything...

Actually, in a way, it can be the same way on Ebay. Sometimes I'll stop relisting something for a while so it looks fresh again.

I see this all the time. Older people who are still stuck in the 1980s when you couple more then triple anything you touched.

Not the case today.

Helps me a lot because they overprice about everything.

Means more sales for me!

Just got back from rounds of yard sales.

Amazing what these people are wanting to get rid of.

So what time was it when you started hitting the sales? How many do you think you got to? I struggle to find anything decent on Fridays.

There is a CL app if you have an android phone that tells you where the sales are for that day.

We always have a nice group of community sales and some of those people love to get a head start on the weekend.

Probably hit 12 sales today.

I hit them after I drop the kids off at school, usually 8 am.

Tomorrow I will be out at 7 am. in the same neighborhood.

Nice, does this app show you locations on a map?

Gives you directions like a GPS.

Or you can take their address and use the Navigator GPS on your phone.

Have spent the last two nights working on the last weekend haul of stuff from yard sales.

Found some fantastic mixes of items.

Very early hand made mask from Africa was the buy of the weekend.

Found one that sold on ebay very similar a while back for 525.00.

I bought it for 5.00.

Legos anyone? I found totes full of them for next to nothing.
Including a full unopened box of Star Wars legos.

No way an African Mask?! That is beyond killer.

Sandy - I don't recall you mentioning a store or a warehouse. Where do you store all these items while having a family?

My partner and I are practically swimming in our merch. Although, it's a little better now that we moved. But I couldn't imagine if I had a wife and kids where I would find the space. I guess I would need a large house.

I went to Goodwill today and found some old D&D games. They are worth around the $20 mark due to their condition but still. Old D&D games are kind of neat and I got them for only a $1!

Start collecting milk crates and sturdy boxes. Building and/or buying shelves helps a ton too. I have a room with shelves to the ceiling.

A storage locker is the next step. I'm looking at a 5 x 10 (feet), air conditioned for about $90 a month. A bit expensive, but the owner said he could careless if I had a small desk in there and spent a few hours at a time working.

Does it have internet?

I have 4 storage units now. I had a 40x60 building with office, restroom etc on my land at my old house but not here.

I dont much home at all, dont like to mix other peoples stuff with my personal stuff. If I do it is cleaned at the storage and brought home to picture or store in the garage for quick shipping etc.

I have a desk, wifi, printer etc set up on the bigger unit and it works out pretty good.

Yard sales today were unreal.

After not finding anything early I started getting lucky.


Anyone else have any luck this week?

Sorry, still haven't been to a garage sale since I moved. Will need to start going soon or I risk running out of items to list.

Well i found some Mikasa Dish 50pcs for 5$ also i found some antique tea pot

Remington Rand Model 7 Noiseless Typewriter for 10$ and some more stuff

I like Estate sales :)

Also i have a little experience with yard sales and it's a little bit difficult...to chose

My Smartphone is helping me..I see something nice open ebay app and see the value of that item......

Many years of experience. If it is an antique or collectible I usually know it without looking it up.

I use terapeak to search items I do not know or check pricing.

I am learning the new stuff and electronics as I go but usually never find a yard sale that I cannot find something to re sell.

Heck, I found some nice oak furniture a while back and did well with it on CL.

Spend some time at an auction and you will learn real quick about certain items.

Well about Furniture, i found a lot of great deals,almost Brand new Sofa,table with chairs for $50 ....and a lot more stuff, i'm thinking to buy a van anyway i will need it because i am doing real estate as well,have 2 property that i am renting out
So as i get more real estate...... i know where to buy Great furniture for a super super great price:)

@sandy how fast is terapeak on a 3g internet? and is it easy to navigate on a smartphone?

Fast enough for me.

Not easy to navigate at all but what else can you do.

I always take the Ipad or laptop with me and leave it in the van for very important stuff.

Thanks for your input it just bugs me when im on a Thrift store then searchig on ebay with small screen, i want to bring my ipad but people will think im weird in public lol.

I dont take the ipad inside.

I send myself a text with what I need to know, go to the car and look it up.

Hint- I always have a cart and always put all the items I am interested into the cart. If I am by myself I ask the clerk to keep my items behind the counter as I have an important call to take and have to go outside and will be back.

I just thought I'd make a quick contribution to this thread.. I was browsing through items on ebay the other day.. I noticed that old school Nike t-shirts go for $90 and upwards. Of course vintage cloths they have to be in good condition.

Purchased an item at a totally junk off the beaten path church thrift store yesterday for 4.99 plus tax and it just sold buy it now for 350.00.

People the stuff is out there, you just got to be out looking.

Also found a NY Yankees autographed baseball with Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and several other Yankees at a goodwill in the case for 10.00. I am going to take it to a sports card shop and have it looked at. So far from what I see it is authentic. Could be a nice sleeper.

That baseball sounds valuable.. A sports shop might be able to tell you about it. Pawn shops, unlike the ones on TV, will just look it up on ebay. Fyi.

I watched that show where the guy would take people around to flea markets and see who did best with their finds so I know the stuff is there.

I am in the US and this stuff is in every sizable town I go into.

I can go any direction and find something.

Yard sales were slim picking today mainly because of the change of rain.

But did get some goodies.

Roy Rogers lunchbox and a leather Harley Davidson biker vest and a Nintendo DS with some games were some of the better items.

Picked up a vintage Reel to Reel player/recorder today. Hopefully it is worth something.

Have not had much time to post in this thread much.

Hit a few yard sales yesterday and ended up with some goodies.

Box of legos, huge box for 5.00.

Box of old 60-70s fisher price toys. All look like they have never been played with.

Nice trumpet in case. Will have to dig on this one.

Box of old coke bottles. 1930's.

why are people selling things like a huge box of legos for only $5? Are they older people, or younger who really don't care? I'm interested because I thought everyone knows about ebay or craigslist. I know that it's too much hassle for some people to sell on these sites, but it's still strange.
But what really matters is, that it's good for us :)
Have you found out anything about the Mickey Mantle signed ball?

There are still many people who just dont care or just do not want to deal with ebay etc.

I find things all the time, every weekend actually and wonder myself why would someone not sell this item themselves.

I found the solid oak bistro set for next to nothing and re sold it on CL for 5 times the money.

And a lot of people dont want certain people showing up at their house from CL because CL is known for having some weird people show up.
With a yard sale you usually have help, other yard sales and other people around and not a one on one deal with someone who do not know.

Yes, the Mantle and other Yankees signed ball is worth over 1000.00.
All I need is it to get graded etc. Mantle itself is 500-600 range by itself but then you have Berra and other good Yanks on it.

I cannot list it until it is graded and for a while because I posted the info here and my user ID would be known so I will just hold it for a while or take it to a card show and sell it off.

Speaking of signed balls.

Stopped in a local pawn shop today and found a new Nintendo DS for 89.00.
And a Carlton Fisk, Fred Lynn, Carl Yastremski signed ball and program from 1974 spring training game in Florida.

I usually never looked at electronics but learned from you guys to always keep an eye out for certain items.

I see a lot of electronics hitting the thrift and pawn shops all the time but never took the time to look or learn.

Not being very techy hurts.
