UK PayPal ID verification asking to show PP No.

Hi boys and girls. It's been a good couple of months now and i'm back to business thanks to the forum. However i could not find the right answer to my question.
PayPal was asking to provide my ID and utility bill. I got creative and supplied those (blackened out passport No).
Got reply from PayPal saying they cannot accept passport with Hidden No.
I can unhide it (while being creative). I read some mixed reviews about PayPal and Passport Number....could someone with a great knowledge give me some advice.

They retain all information from docs provided by everyone and will check the passport number against their own database, they cannot check it against official records due to data protection.

However generating a random number is pretty hit and miss. If it shows up as being used before the your creative passport will fail but it's a chance you now need to take.

Tip for the future, avoid using passport for photo ID, there are better options

D/l number is specific to the name and DOB.
