How long does it take to get a Stealth account going & SELLING?

I've never made a Stealth account. I just remember buying the book at least a year or 2 ago so I'd have to re-read it. (And I'm assuming some stuff has changed) So how long would you say it takes to get one going?

I'd REALLY need to get one to a selling limit of $5k - $10k.

I've got a bunch of usernames ready to go and would start up 5-10 at once after I get familiar with everything in the Stealth Book.

Also - If I show them receipts of the items I own/want to sell, will that instantly increase the limits? Rather than "steadily selling" and waiting for it to go up by like $20 or something -.-

Otherwise, how does the average person who has no idea how strict eBay is, go about listing an expensive item they have?

to go true stealth means to build an account from scratch and that means slowly. legit or not legit they do not want to see a lot of action on a new account. if you build a few from scratch now, in a few months you will not have to worry about them shutting you down because you will be backed up. you can try to talk to one of the sellers about an aged account. i suggest you reread the guide and search the forum

From day 1 it is about what you sell and how you go about following the rules.

Most limits generally look like this:
Day 1-Day 30 (10 Items/$1000)
Day 31-Day 60 (10 Items/$1000)
Day 61-Day 90 (10 Items/$1000)

After day 90 they will review your account (only if you ask to raise), and will look at the types of items you are selling, duplicate items you are selling, the risk of items you are selling, etc, and they will determine what kind of increase you will get.

After day 90 you can have your limited raised and they will typically raise them to 50-100. Every 30 days after that 90 days they will raise them if you contact them via email/phone.

I find that ridiculous. What if I have a $3,000 rare item or something I want to list? How does a normal person who knows nothing about eBay and how strict they are, go about listing something expensive that they want to sell?!?

they care about their business model. they do not care that you want to make $. someone randomly selling something for 3k or even 1k or even $500 is most likely just scamming. they know what they are doing

Not everyone signs up for eBay wanting to sell socks and underwear and cheap goods. Just because something is over $500 that means it's "most likely scamming"?!?? Dumbest thing I've read in a while.

Not dumb, its the truth and the best advice here. Yes, you make that much, that fast, you look like a scammer. It is not a risk ebay or paypal is willing to take.

You have an item that is that large in the financial department, look for other means to sell it for cash like craigslist or something.

What you got is obvious advice for ANY business that is out there.
Last time I checked, 3k is still a LOT of money, especially in this economy.

So you have a few options, Start slow and build your way up, or buy an already established account that has started allowing that kind of revenue to flow into it. But, do not shoot the messengers.

May be dumb to you but as has been said already - what you think is of no consequence at all.

Sellers of socks and underwear and cheap crap are rarely scammers.

Sellers of electronics and items $500 plus are sometimes scammers.

Why should Ebay believe you? Why should Ebay put their business model on the line because you don't like their rules?

Do you think someone sat down one day and said 'what can we do to make life difficult for sellers - that way we can reduce our fee income?'

No - that sat down and said 'what can we do to stop these scammers and foo-foo merchants'

That's why we have what we have - live with it, work around it and deal with it - do what needs to be done

I'll put that down to youth. Just because you have a slight knowledge of ebay, stop with this immature thinking NOW.

You have to earn the right to sell unlimited levels on an account.

You have to work hard to do anything related to ebay/paypal.

Unless you start with a new attitude, all you will do is come undone.

Pull your head in, and read carefully how to be a successful stealth seller.
None of us need your moaning. Learn to work with the forum.
There's absolutely no spoon-feeding done OR available.
You will succeed more with a better approach

You said it...sometimes your business model needs to mimic that of a normal person - exact details can not be given out...some learn by trial and error

What I have noticed from personal experience is that you can list 1 expensive item on a relatively new account especially if used or you put pics of receipt/serials/certificate in the listing and take returns. I sold an LV bag for my sister on <7 day old account for testing purposes.

If you ship promptly, upload tracking and don't try to pull the money out the account immediately (if somehow you don't have holds on a new account). However, If you try to re list that expensive item or have an item not as described dispute...
