Default Amazon Tax ID Situation/Solution?

I have 7 total Amazon accounts, 6 of which are professional accounts with the $39.99 monthly fee. Of those 6, I have had 5 of them for several months and the other one for just a few months. It appears they all have a notice as of today when you log in that they must provide Tax ID information by September 30th or face suspension. I noticed that my 7th Amazon account, which is not a professional account, does NOT have that notice (but it has made sales).

I wonder if anyone has any input or suggestions on this issue. I have read about setting up a DBA and giving them that Tax ID number. That seems like a risky, slippery slope, however, since Stealth accounts aren't based on a real person. Also, I wonder if changing the professional accounts back to personal, basic selling accts would eliminate their request.

PS Some have pointed out that Amazon will request the Tax ID info after 50 items sold, but most of these have only sold in the range of 30-40 items in the life of the account.

Any helpful input would be greatly appreciated!

You really need to seek professional advise with so many accounts. IRS is NOT playing this year with collecting taxes so be prepared for the worst.

Or you could sell those account and have the buyer worry about the problem..

I talked to someone about this at amazon seller support...they said all pro sellers will require this and any personal seller will require this as well if they sell over 50 items a year on a personal account.

I am going bankrupt after this 1099-k thing. There is no profit left for the seller; 50% inventory, 25% for Amazon, 25% for Democrats, 25% (loses, damaged, returns and profit).

I used to have 25% profits; now will have to operate at a loss of 25%.

This is completely insane and unfair.

Bottom line of this:

Seek professional tax advice.
