Help with UK Shipping Royal Mail

I posted a customer something through royal mail 1st class recorded.
Basically for the last 28 days it has said 'this item is progressing through the network' and I got told i have to fill a form in for royal mail.
I still have my original receipt for postage and item and am aware 1st class only covers unto £50, the item was worth £40. What would i need to file a claim and has anyone been successful at doing so? Any advice appreciated

Easy peasy!

Get the claim form. Print off from their website or get one at the PO.

If the item was sold on ebay, you print off a copy of the sales invoice / purchase and send this in with the form.

A missing item is clear cut. The issues you get with Royal Mail is when you try to claim for damage. They always claim the packing you used was insufficient to protect it, etc.

You will get the £40 the item sold for back plus the postage cost.

Hi, so I've got the form from the post office, i've got who the item was going to go to/ebay sale..but as i am a good seller, i just sent them a straight free item back out but did it next day delivery. So i just send out right the sales invoice from ebay, item receipt along with the form and they'll give it me back?
How long on average does it take?

Yes, it's as easy as that.

The last time I claimed I got a cheque back from them within a week.

I suppose it all depends how busy they are ie how much stuff the RM staff are stealing.

Hahaha yeah. Well 2nd time it's happened for me out of about 20 items.
I'll have to get all the receipts anyway and send it of cheers
