Have 2 accounts under my name.

So I have one account under my name which is current and actively selling.
Also have another account which has all of my info except it has my old address. I have not logged onto that account in years. Both accounts are about 5-6 years old.
Now, the account I have not logged into from what I recall should have close to 50 buyer feed backs as I used to use that to purchase things through ebay.
From what I recall I used to purchase things through the same PayPal I am using now.
I can regain access to that account by recalling the password to my email.
But wanted some advice from you guys before I even touch it or even try to recall passwords from ebay.

What do you guys think? Can this potentially become a strong account as well? Also what are the risks? And what should I look out for?

Appreciate it guys!

If the account was in good standing and you just stopped using it then go for it and start selling on the other account also.
Since it does have your info tied into it then the accounts will be tied together. So if one account goes down then the other one will go down also.

ICANSELL 04-14-2013 01:44 AM

That what I figured every one on here says dont tie accounts together, but I don't see what the problem is. Especially if its all my info. I would just look at them both as one account. The only difference is I would just be able to sell more.

Now, would I have to log on from a different IP address still? Since its obv that its me using both accounts.
Also would it be of any benefit to change the info on the account and maybe use a drift PayPal?

GreenBean 04-14-2013 02:11 AM

The old inactive account has little value if you convert it to a seller's account.

All you have is an account made in (eg) 2006. That account has to earn its stripes so to speak.

Any talk of changing IPs etc, is going to flag the account. You run the risk of ebay thinking the account is hacked.

BUT: all is not lost. Should this be an account in your real name, you may have some leverage with ebay.
Is it your real info?

:spy:

ICANSELL 04-14-2013 02:46 AM

Yes it has all of my real info, and have baught a bunch of things on it most in the 50-500 dollar range, so I figured that would give me some validity with ebay?

I just haven't used it because like I said I forgot the password. But I'm not sure if it would be anymore powerful or anymore convenient then a regular stealth account since its got a good reputation and is defiantly aged.

rsot 04-14-2013 07:40 AM

You would have to slowly nurture it back into existence - buy and browse - dont sell right away.

The selling account value begins the DATE it starts selling so in eB's eyes, it would look like a regular new account...not necessarily so aged.

Seems some links might exist between the 2 accounts - be aware of that

ICANSELL 04-14-2013 01:25 PM

Thank you for the advise, but can I log on with the same ip, and user name? Since they are obv both mine?
Yes there is some ties. I think I will bring it back to life!

Mr. Invisible 04-14-2013 08:39 PM

The 2 accounts are already linked due to using the same paypal account.

I routinely logged into 4 accounts with the same IP before I found this place. I was also selling on all 4 and nothing happened. The Paypal was a business account though, not sure if that made a difference.

ICANSELL 04-15-2013 03:23 AM

Right, and they were both buyer accounts together for years. As I made one because I couldn't remember the others password.
What do you guys think about calling up ebay about the subject? I mean I haven't actually signed on to the other account and my primary account is pretty strong and don't want to put it at risk just for a few more sales which I can gain off of stealth anyway.

rsot 04-15-2013 05:58 AM

Icansell - a LOT will depend on what you sell...if you get VEROed hit or high risk items are listed and one account gets banned, the other account could be affected.

I would still operate each one separately as possible - maybe new windows user account at least from here on. They are linked but still should be operated independently.

ICANSELL 04-18-2013 08:17 PM

Thanks once again for the help!
Do you think I should us different ip as well? I think it would look weird to ebay if I'm using two accounts from different locations though?

rsot 04-19-2013 11:50 AM

Keep the cookies - you could operate with different IP (I have done this for linked accounts in the past). Just realize that if eB gets on your case about the linking, you could have limits of sales reduced or both could go down.

Up to you to keep operating - wise decision is ALSO to begin new accounts

ICANSELL 04-22-2013 03:23 AM

Appreciate the time you guys took for the replies guys!

GreenBean 04-22-2013 03:59 AM

Bear in mind if you use a different IP with either account PLUS paypal, there may be a reaction from paypal.

Such change of IP usage could suggest to them account hacking

Agree with GB.

Move the IPs around will give pp or eb the perfect opportunity to nail you for the lie "hey your account has been compromised, send me your life history"

These account have been linked so you might as well treat them as such.

rsot 04-22-2013 05:36 AM

They are linked but you might as well try to keep the appropriate cookies in place - both accounts have always been operated from the same windows user account?

GreenBean 04-22-2013 06:08 AM

Are you even sure the OP knows about cookies?

:juggle:

rsot 04-22-2013 06:12 AM

Odd question - he should know if he has read the stealth guide - not everything is taught and spoonfed - you know this GB

GreenBean 04-22-2013 06:25 AM

We are talking about a user who made these accounts some 5-6 years ago.

Do you still maintain he would be aware of cookies?

How could he have 'put' cookies on at least one account when he has posted he has forgotten the password?

He has expressed some doubts about the correct procedures if I am reading the same thread.
