Default Banks that allow to close accounts yourself?

Does anyone know a bank that allows you to close your account yourself without contacting them? I know CapitalOne360 has that feature, but they banned me years ago for you know what. By the way, has anyone tried to reinstate their ING account after it became Capital One?

99% of them you have to contact them to close them, not too many that have this feature.

Is there a problem with calling in to close an account?

Depends on the definition of contact.. At Wells Fargo, you can just email them through the messaging center that you want a certain account closed. You have to give them the account number of course. And they will close it for you

Cap One is far more tuff then ING would ever be.

Do not forget Cap One is a major credit card issuer and has far more information available to them then ING ever did.

I am sure they have all the same info as businesses make sure whatever was in the past is part of of deal.

Depending on who closed the account in the first place, be careful of considering getting it reopened.

At the least check your credit score would be my suggestion

Interesting - most banks I deal with require written authorization with signature to close an account - it's not as simple as opening an account online. I can see why though

Did they not ask questions? Did they tell you there was a time frame to allow outstanding transactions to come thro' before they would formally close the account?

On the message to close the account, I always put some type of explanation (normally made up ) as to why I want the account closed. It's always understood that I need to make sure the account activity is no longer pending before I request the closure. IT takes about 1-3 business days this way. If I want it closed faster than that then it takes a phone call or go into the branch.

Most Banks do not have such a feature, you will need to contact them, but Honestly I do not see the big deal, and also if the bank works well with Stealth, Why Close it?,,if the Ebay/Amazon attached to it goes down, why not simply go into the bank and tell them that you need a New Account number, and start again

You would only close an account if it is no longer useable to the person on Az, PP, or whatever service.

Example: I have closed out accounts after getting a PP transfer after 180 day period wait...doesn't mean I will end my dealings with the bank...always keep an account open to keep good profile

That's the usual way.

I had 2 savings accounts with BOA and got hit with a $90 fee I didn't realize with savings account u get 3 transfers a month , transfer and withdrawl are the same, after that it's $3 each transfer.

I have a group of stealths that have BOA ACCounts and I would keep $25 in all and transfer funds to one account that way I could have everything with one debit card.

They were great about it waived the fees and suggested more checking accounts so they waited till all were settled and closed both accounts and opened 3 checking

But BOA is very easy to work with not many questions , which i like , as long as u have money in ur account and are doing things legally than u shouldn't be hassled, just don't close too many accounts, maybe after u finish with Paypal use them for Amazon

You did NOT understand my Post,,I said that you can go to the bank and ask them to CHANGE your account Number,,all you need to tell them you need an new account number, Be discreet. ANY bank will immediately get you a New account Number which , of course can be Used with a New Paypal or Ebay Account
