3 paypal accounts limited ???????

Any idea what may have caused then to look closely at your account moxy?

I bet that most of us had this reason for getting limited:

"Why is my account access limited?

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

16 Nov 2014: We need to confirm some of your account information. Please update your profile with your current address and provide some documentation to help confirm your identity"

I am in the same boat. I refunded my ebay buyers and apologised. Wish there was a good alternative to paypal in the UK

Just been on the phone with paypal. And She had to break down the sad news to me. Here's what she said;
Me: I still cannot access my account, please inform me of the status.
Her;
Unfortunately your account has been limited forever, not for 10 years but forever.
Me: What happened? Why was it limited? No reason was given, are you able to tell me?
Her: Only the frauds department can answer that....
Me;
What about the funds in my account?
Her: We can release the fund to you if you submit a coloured passport.
Me: Does that mean I stand a chance of getting my account back aswell?
Her: Yes if we can see all the four coners of the passport.
Me: Okay I will get those to you.
Her Goodbye Sir.
She was very eager to hangup on me before I had to say what I wanted to say.

wish i did mate - im going to wait till january before i buy another account just to see what happens with this documents situation.

Also, don't freak out - yet. We have seen problems like this come up before only to die down, or other reasons are revealed for the accounts being closed.

And before anyone says, it is easy for Jeffweico to say that, HE is in the US - whatever starts in the UK comes here and vice-versa. So, we would all likely be in the same boat.

This could be real. If it IS real, it could stick, or it could be an experiment.

My immediate thought is that sometimes, younger people especially, are not in the credit system yet. Usually, files are created when people start applying for credit. Of course, that assumes they are using the credit databases.

Ebay bussiness account. PayPal was normal.

What is next level of Stealth? Other than finding real people ie family and friends whom no doubt we have used and blown out anyway at some point I think Stealth is doomed for Uk anyway.

Nope, stealthers just pick themselves up and move on! Wherever in the world they are, there is not enough of a difference to the basics of it to mean it would just be over in the UK either, someone will come up with the necessary steps to get over next years big changes in document authenticity as well just like they always do

I admire your optimism.

I've been doing stealth for nearly 6 years and I cannot see anyway round these checks. We're not talking here about getting better at our submitted artwork. This is a whole new level of identity checking.

Let's say you open a stealth account in the details:

John Smith
2 High Street
London

You then verify the account with a Halifax bank current account.

Paypal will run a bureau check on John Smith at that address and they will be looking to find a search entry from Halifax PLC. As the account is stealth there won't be any search data for John Smith and the account will then no doubt be limited with a request for Photo ID and bank statement.

The photo ID will then be scanned by software that is designed to detect forged documents with about 99% accuracy.

The companies that are getting involved with Paypal are at the front line in creating fraud prevention measures for banks and financial institutions.

The update to the Paypal Privacy Policy outlines what companies are being used and what they are going to be used for.

So what are you saying that everyone is just going to hold their hands up and say that's it we are done we can't go any further! This hasn't appeared overnight, there has been plenty of warning about it coming, what is the point of this forum if it can't come up with some workable options difficult though it's obviously going to be, and that's not to mention the UK account sellers still selling away and upping their marketing campaigns to get more people purchasing their UK accounts!

I 100% respect what you are saying as an expert and as someone who has helped me many times now.

Just two points if I may, if nothing else but to bring some hope.

I have worked in a few Banks years ago and I have checked identities myself as I have opened Bank Accounts for customers and much more.

In the example below, it is possible that there may be no search entry at the address of a Halifax account being opened. For the simple reason that the account may have been opened at a previous address, and the person may have moved previously. Of course Halifax may make searches later on but that is not certain.

Regarding the photo ID that is very interesting.

We are talking about scanned documents of varying quality. It may or may not be possible, but my guess this method of checking will not be an exact science and errors will be made. I have been responsible for checking real documents in the past, but scanned images? Surely that depends on the quality of the scanner and other variables.

I am no expert like you but I think there is more to this such as Paypal using risk models as well as these methods we are now witnessing. I bet Paypal take into account all kinds of factors such as sales volume, risk, etc etc

Only time will tell, but I would like to have some kind of optimism.

Take into consideration that there is a Corporation involved, not the man in the street.

We are not privy to any contractual relations that paypal has with this company.

Expect the worst and hope for the best.
