Changing phone number on paypal made before the new ID requiremens

Bought an account towards the end 2014, do not have access to the phone number is was created with, what are the chances of said account surviving if I now change the phone number to one I do have access to.

Person I bought the account from does not have that an active SIM card for that phone number either so getting the sim from them is not an option, that's why I need to add another phone number and it needs to become the primary phone number for that account, if possible.

Adding phone numbers to accounts has no relevance to the account going down at all.

People get new phone contracts all the time or change their number due to loss of their phone.....many reasons.

Just add the number - I have changed the number on my accounts few times without issues

That's is a relief to read and will certainly give it a go, was concerned because have seen postings on here saying that having access to the original number that accounts were created with was increasingly important. The account I am talking about is one I am only just getting round to activating as well so that original phone number has never been used by me on it.

You can always change the phone numbers anytime you want. However, you will need the original phone number used at register if you need to add a new bank account to that account. Even if you edit/remove it in your profile page, paypal remember it forever. Sure, you have option to add a new phone number (at the verification page when you try to add a bank account). Try to add any numbers other than the original-at-register number and you will always get an error message saying that those phone number is not registered under your name,
