When you should think about calling in;

Have an account with low limits.
Don't care if you lose the account should something go wrong.

When you shouldn't call in for limit increases;

You care if the account is closed.

Everyone's cases are different. People sell different items, come from different areas, used different techniques for creating their account.

People who spruike on a forum, on this gathering or meeting place ( your own words) how great they are, usually are in fact lacking in many areas.

From now, try to improve your approach. You are not well perceived with your attitude and that's silly. Some of your stuff is not too bad. Its delivery suxs.

@ ghostofamazon the vast majority of people on here want the accounts to last whether its a new account or established. No one os slating your opinions but sometimes it's best to look at long term plans rather than short term.

I think this poster is 100% right.

I've seen several posts asking what I will do if the account gets shut down. Answer is simple: I will create more (same answer to the person who asked what my backup plan is).

And for the poster who suggested I don't know much about stealth he's wrong. Actually I have over 20+ stealth accounts.

I think this is the only poster who answered the question.

To be honest, my question was does anyone have specific experience with calling - everyone who posted is writing from speculation, not experience.

I just did. My first reply was:

"Personally, I say call them. Your choice is either:

A. Live with 10 items per month indefinitely.

Or

B. Call and either get an increase or get shut down.

Personally, I wouldn't give a damn about losing a 10 items per month account, but that's me. You know how to stealth, it's not difficult to create a new account. The boogieman just isn't that scary."

I am 100% right. To prove a point, I just called in (using GOOGLE VOICE, oh my!) and was increased to 50 items/3,000 dollars per month!

The "experts" suck.

What you have to see is that not everyone has the skills or confidence in calling in. The idealogy we follow on the forum is "Better safe than sorry". When we give advice, we do so without knowing the skill level of the person asking the question.

I always use the same analogy "People go over Niagra Falls over barrels, some Live and some Die" it's best to live and fight another day. I'm sure your a smooth operator, I'm sure you can get Ebay to give you infinite selling limits but in the end, it's best people let their limits grow naturally.

I respect that, and I do see where you are coming from.

HOWEVER, my point (from the beginning) was that calling eBay does NOT equal "dead account". The other posters claimed this was an inevitability. I simply wished to prove them wrong, and now they can't let it go. Children are like that sometimes.

I do agree---if you're not good on the phone, and you aren't prepared, you shouldn't call---but it's not a difficult thing to do. Never been on the phone more than 3 minutes with an eBay rep, and it's not hard to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ it for that short time.
