For me whenever i have been limited, the limitations have always come on the days i attempt to withdraw money

^^^Agreed. Do something that paypal does not like & there is a reaction

Yeah, same when I withdraw money my account usually gets limited.

In my opinion this is the most important issue on the forums. Unfortunately though we spend most of our time discussing issues that have already been resolved. Whenever there is a thread about paypal and the SSN requirement it usually dies out. The last prospective workaround I read was claiming to have a green card, thus not having a SSN, unfortunately that discussion died out as well and there was no followup or conclusion.

Perhaps it is because there is no resolution to this issue. The only thing remotely close to one would be calling paypal and pleading with them, some people claim to have used this technique sucessfully but are reluctant to elaborate on it. Others allude to methods around the SSN requirement but again are not willing to discuss it, even through PM.

Because of this problem I have been reluctant to create new stealth accounts. I have taken to filing a complaint with the BBB in order to have my original ebay account reinstated as my original paypal is in good standing. I may also have to go through the attorney general, unfortunately if that does not work I will be right where I started, dealing with the paypal SSN requirement. I no longer sell anything that would suspend me from ebay and through this expierence I have learned enough to avoid any pitfalls which would put my original account in jeopardy if it is indeed reinstated.

the thing with the ss number issue is paypal is never consistant in getting that requirement lifted...so it is alot of persuasion and luck needed to lift that limitation.

Does anyone have any other input, perhaps a success story with the SSN limitation?

Meh, guys the only thing you can do if you persist is the 180 days. Just move on! Then again its always possible, but that takes time. Might as well do both right?

wookster 03-05-2009 03:53 PM

If you move to Canada you dont need a SSN ;)

Burning 03-05-2009 05:52 PM

Canada does not require ssn# but Canadians have a sin number. Paypal does not ask for sin number.

aking 03-05-2009 07:39 PM

so why not just make up a SSN? Does that work? lol

Jonas 03-06-2009 12:42 AM

aking, no

bend_over_ebay 03-16-2009 04:23 PM

why make one up? anyone tried the SSDI?

JamesYaBaoy 03-16-2009 04:50 PM

It really doesnt matter for the long term..

Why...?

In 2011 i Belive PayPal will BE REQUIRED by the government to report all income over 200 transactions(or somthign along thoose lines) and they will request your SS# at that time.
