Default SSN Requirement removed

If you have been calling and not having success on getting around the SSN, keep trying.

I've called four times this week on getting my SSN requirement removed. The first three times I've ran into problems and the women wouldn't let me get around it.

The fourth time I talked to "Amanda" and after a bit of talking, I was able to get the SSN removed.

Now, for this to work, you need EVERYTHING BUT the SSN confirmed (i.e. if you have to upload docs, verify address, phone, etc. you have a lower chance of it working).

So if you really want to get around the SSN, make sure everything else is confirmed. Also, make sure you can explain anything you've sold or are selling as they will look at your eBay account as well and ask you how/where you get your items.

If you've gotten any money out via the virtual credit card plugin, you will be asked about that as well.

Talking

Several older users here have done this. IF you can prove to paypal your 'bonafides', it is amazing what can be done. It is a matter of being professional, prepared and persistant.
'Manipulate' them as they do us.

Do you give them any particular reason for not wanting to supply your ssn?

Do they ask you for a reason....or do you just say I'd prefer not to?

Has a coughing fit. Provided you have every single bit of info about your
account, are confident, you negotiate with them. You do not come out and flatly decline to provide it. But a reasonable request can be accepted. 'The prefer not to' does not work, imo.

So if you have verified the other 2 methods they still automatically ask for ss# now? Wouldn't that make this whole thing nearly impossible seeing as you have to have a Paypal account linked to your ebay account to sell anything? So are they just coming right out with it now and asking for SS# as soon as you create the account? Or do they give you some time to sell? If they do automatically ask for social the only option I see left is international methods or maybe pre 11/07 account. Please help me somebody I'm so discouraged, but I still have faith. If you don't want to post info you can PM me or email me.

Lots of ways to talk in order to remove SSN.

For one, let them know you are a victim of identity theft. Tell them you have been scammed numerous times online and if you can, actually name some sites/payment processors (such as AlertPay).

I'm sure you guys can think of more.

I agree persistence is very important i mean it is our money. Its not like Paypal reps are robots they have emotions just like anyone else and you just have to play on those emotions. One thing you shouldnt do is get sassy because they can just screw you, silently. Use the recession, heck shed a couple tears if you have too, be creative. Trust me if there was "Removing Your Paypal Limitation" Performance Award, i would be nominated.

Persistence is key - The first few times you say you dont want to they will try and convince you that its safe etc etc. If youre still going around and around say that this sounds illegal and that you want to talk to the supervisor.

Ask for alternative methods.

That always helps

Default try the old credit report trick.

Either, I already had stuff on my credit report that was from paypal that didn't belong to me. I had to get a police report and have it removed. And You promised that you are the only company that wouldn't ask for my ssn. Now I am going to a merchants account. Keep threatening to leave. That you have other options. Don't let them know they have YOU buy the ballz.

On an older account, a year old. I called and lied and told them I already gave them my ssn but they removed it and promised me that I wouldn't have to verify again after finding stuff on my credit report from them that didn't apply to me. when she said she couldn't find that info in the computer I got even more mad and said, yeah figured your company would cover their tracks.

Cry, scream, lose your tempter. Hang up call back.

I figure screw it .if I am going to lose the account anyway I have nothing to lose so I give it my all. And most of the time I win.

Default I Managed to get my accounts unlinked!

Yes presistance is key. I was able to get my account unlinked from my other suspended account. One is a boys name and another is a girls name and i told them that I broke up with that person and have moved and that i have no control if decide to try to get their account reinstated.

I took several phone calls and just the right supervisor.
