Default So it's official* Entropay is no longer usable for UK paypal.

(* IMHO)

So now after years of NEVER losing an account....suddenly I have 6 new stealth accounts limited in the last 2 weeks.

To summarise my position from last week here was a post I made elsewhere on the forum some days ago:

I have over 30 accounts total, always used entropay on all of them and never a single issue these last few years. This week I created 7 new accounts, I always list as soon as I create, again never had an issue. I had 4 of these new accounts shut down within a day of each other, requesting statements for my debit card (the entropay). Interestingly those 4 all had active auctions running. The other 3 the auctions had already finished and first payment received and they are fine so far *touch wood*. My accounts were not linked in any other way, and the fact they are requesting only the statements would certainly suggest to me the issue is solely entropay.

Now since that post I made 3 further entropay based stealths. 1 survived and 2 got limited requesting card statements. Once again the 2 limited still had live auctions running whilst the 1 that survived the auctions had finished and customers paid.

So clearly there is a large scale crackdown in the last few weeks as NONE of these accounts were linked in anyway.

SO despite my previous fondness of entropay, and love of how cost effective it is when making a large number of stealths it looks like it is time to move on. I don't really want to be throwing bank accounts away even though I have around 25 spare right now.

What are the best alternatives THAT CURRENTLY WORK? This question is really only aimed at those who have made new stealths and listed in the last 2 weeks, as any other info IMO is currently out of date. I see there are these prepaid visas you can get from shops, will they do? One thing I will miss on entropay is the fact that you could get a card number to get a stealth up and running for pennies.

I will try and experiment another 2 or 3 times with some of spare bank accounts and entropay, just to see if there is a way around it, but overall it looks like it is no longer a viable option.

There is certainly no doubt that the limitation is caused by Entropay. There have been a few members reporting the same issue in the last month or so.

There are plenty other options out there but you won't find anything quite as cheap as Entropay (@10p per card). Your best bet would be some of the Visa and MasterCard giftcards available in the supermarkets. All of them work fine on Paypal.

I have seen this happen to me a few times.

Personally I think the issue is due a number of issues at account creation of which Entropay is one of them.

Although I am not an account Seller I have made a lot of accounts.

Just my input anyway.

What other issues do you suspect then apart from entropay?

Out of curiosity, does Asda supply these? Never bought one of these before it might come in handy. Thanks.

Basically everything related to account creation. There is no hard or fast rule. Its a poorly programmed computer algorithm that decides.

One of the most interesting aspects of all this for me is they have only hit accounts of mine with no previous sales, running auctions for the first time. None of my 'older' accounts have been hit. Now if it can be established with a degree of certainty that they are only hitting accounts with no previous sales or feedback then there may be a a way to still use entropay, as it took between 48 -60 hours from listing for these accounts to get limited, none have been limited in under 48 hours from the listing going live.

Clutching at straws a little I know but I really hope there is a way still to get entropay to work.....

I have added new cards to established years old accounts recently with no issues.

I add a card to new accounts and let it age for a while before doing anything with it.

Earlier this year I lost 5 to 6 accounts when adding additional cards to newish accounts, and lost new accounts 24 hours after creation. A week later a repeated the procedure and all was fine.

The listing activity on Ebay is not related to the Paypal limitation. The limitation tends to hit around 48 to 72 hours after the Entropay card is added.

Given the only resolution step is to provide a credit card statement then it is hard to conclude that it is caused by anything other than the Entropay card (either the BIN or the lack of AVS data).

The bigger stores definitely stock them but they are also widely available in Tesco and Morrisons.

I'd also add that I really don't think that it's over for Entropay. These types of limitation have been hitting sporadically (albeit not as frequent) for a long time and it isn't anything new.

But out of the 10 I have created the last few weeks the 6 that went down still were involved in live auctions, the other 4 that didn't go down the auctions had finished. Are you saying that this is pure coincidence? As the odds of that are pretty long? 64-1?

Yes I would be cautious about declaring Entropay as finished for UK. I have had a few accounts go down lately, I will have to see if they are all entropay accounts.

Entropay have been becoming a nuisance lately, especially with the unequal balance thing

Always good to have some other options and not rely on one company.

One cannot knock the ease and cheapness of Entropay though

I have had no problems using Entropay to pay my fees or to buy items on eBay, never tried to create an account using Entropay as the confirmation card so no idea how that is going these days.

If the 4 that didnt go down already had money in the paypal then as Mr Kong has said, there are several factors involved :

1. New account
2. Entropay added
3. No funds received.

Entropay is the main cause though as I've never seen the "credit card statement only" request using any other VCC.

I hate **** like that.

Somebody creates a thread with a doomsday title and I feel the urge to click on it, because it might affect me.

Then I read how senior members solve the doomsday, end of the world type of problem and life continues as normal.

Annoying.

Been saying this for almost a year.

Entropay is a bad idea, but you will get some of the account sellers saying its fine because its a cheap way to create accounts and thats what they use - can't ruin business can they!

Also,

My favourite little flowers out there- PM me some Entropay alternatives that I could possibly use. Would love to have few back-up services, just in case.

I make an account a day.

Had one of these limitations.

Entropay is NOT unusable for the UK

Thread title needs changing immediately to avoid confusing newbies/those that don't require evidence before making a decision.

Perhaps a mod could oblige.

I'm not an account seller. I make an account a day and I use my own accounts for my own sales.

I've had one of these limitations.

If you're getting this regularly, something else is contributing.

There is no doubt PayPal don't like entropay-only accounts.

Are your accounts aged? Are your accounts phone and bank verified? Are you using real addresses? Are you using reliable ip addresses?

Any one of those are no and you need to address your methods.

Entropay has certainly become more problematic.

I wouldn't write it off completely until more users report problems.

Thread title does not need changing at all. There is a disclaimer there that states it is IMHO
