So it's official* Entropay is no longer usable for UK paypal.
(* IMHO)
So now after years of NEVER losing an account....suddenly I have 6 new stealth accounts limited in the last 2 weeks.
To summarise my position from last week here was a post I made elsewhere on the forum some days ago:
I have over 30 accounts total, always used entropay on all of them and never a single issue these last few years. This week I created 7 new accounts, I always list as soon as I create, again never had an issue. I had 4 of these new accounts shut down within a day of each other, requesting statements for my debit card (the entropay). Interestingly those 4 all had active auctions running. The other 3 the auctions had already finished and first payment received and they are fine so far *touch wood*. My accounts were not linked in any other way, and the fact they are requesting only the statements would certainly suggest to me the issue is solely entropay.
Now since that post I made 3 further entropay based stealths. 1 survived and 2 got limited requesting card statements. Once again the 2 limited still had live auctions running whilst the 1 that survived the auctions had finished and customers paid.
So clearly there is a large scale crackdown in the last few weeks as NONE of these accounts were linked in anyway.
SO despite my previous fondness of entropay, and love of how cost effective it is when making a large number of stealths it looks like it is time to move on. I don't really want to be throwing bank accounts away even though I have around 25 spare right now.
What are the best alternatives THAT CURRENTLY WORK? This question is really only aimed at those who have made new stealths and listed in the last 2 weeks, as any other info IMO is currently out of date. I see there are these prepaid visas you can get from shops, will they do? One thing I will miss on entropay is the fact that you could get a card number to get a stealth up and running for pennies.
I will try and experiment another 2 or 3 times with some of spare bank accounts and entropay, just to see if there is a way around it, but overall it looks like it is no longer a viable option.
