..is it ok to get close to sending/buying limit on paypal without triggering document request? (I know for receiving it is wise to stop a lot sooner). Many thanks!

Are you talking about Receiving limit?

Sending/Withdrawal limits can be lifted just by adding and verifying a bank account.

If the account is verified then it doesn't have a sending limit.

When you exceed £1650 in funds received, they will ask for documents.

Other limitations can result based on the risk your activities present.
