Fuc*ed Up Direct Debit! Help

Ok so i messed up, i know the normal rules. either pay with card or use paypal balance and dont let direct debit get sent off for e-cheque for eBay fees.

anyway i didn't have enough funds and eBay tried taking payment and now e-cheque says between 24th-26th April funds will leave account, but it is a stealth account mismatch name using Barclays saver account.

However Barclays saver accounts say they dont allow direct debits from them anyway so what is going to happen.

I know the payment will fail regardless but will eBay see the real name on the account? or will Barclays just refuse it and paypal wont know why or see the name

ive heard i could remove the bank quick

i also have a freind who works at barclays so i could call them and ask them to stop any DD attempt if that helps

PP is unlikely to see the real name if the payment is not accepted by bank - payment will fail and it is possible that your account will be limited - not 100% but this has happened to me in the past when bank payments failed (way way back).

You might want to be pro-active and pay off the fees with a gift card.

PP might auto-remove the bank.

Advice is just to remain calm, take pro-active action and don't panic, wait until you see what happens.

Also might worth adding a card on pp and using that primary payment source.

Yeah, I agree, get the fees paid now and try to stave off the trouble. They can hardly complain if the bill got paid.

RSOT's advice is good. Go with it.

I have paid the bill thats all sorted, i used my balance afterwards as it was only just short due to stupid return request that just put it under the amount for them to use e cheque instead, i wasnt worried so much about ebay side it was paypal side of things.

You're probably okay, just sit it out and don't make it worse by doing crazy stuff, if there's a problem come back and we'll do what we can to help.

Worst case scenario is they will remove the bank and you can call back in to have it added back on.

A lot of us pay our fees from bank accounts without issues ever. Also, paypal see the name when you do the micro deposit so they already have it. Up until now, paypal does not use that info for anything and nobody expects that to change.
