Activity: 0% Longevity: 85% | | PayPal holding funds for 21 days
Hi guys
I have a new stealth account and all seems fine.
The only problem I have got is that PayPal are holding the funds for 21 days (or until the buyer leaves feedback.
The problem I have is about 5 items have been removed from eBay - even though they didn't advise why and when I e-mail (as we all know how good they are at replying) them they come back with some automated system e-mail that doesn't make sense.
I know the buyers have receivedthe items, as they have tracking info and they have also e-mailed me to say so.
Is there any point in contacting PayPal to request the funds tobe released, they are not able to leave feedbackas the items are no longer available on eBay?
Thanks in advance

you can add tracking to pp and it will quicken it a bit, but best is to wait for 21 days or feedback. You can gently email buyers to ask for fb..some people offer incentives for quick feedback

the problem is there is no item there for them to leave feedback as eBay have removed it.... the account is still live and OK but it's just the items in question have been removed
anyway not to worry

yeah they have said I can't list for a week.. so no real problem .. just the held funds..I presume now.. as the buyer cna't leave feedback.. I do have to wait the 21 days... there is no other way to get the funds.. even though the buyer has received the goods... which PayPal can see from the tracking information

I am also experiencing the 21 day hold on ebay since last month. I have had majority on hold and odd one not. Could it possibly be how the buyer pays? For instance if they pay via cc card then immediate hold whereas bank transfer/debit card or paypal funds its no hold. Anyone shed anylight please?

you can get holds with any of the above payment methods, you may have found paypal are a bit more scared of cc chargebacks but I experience holds for all methods. It is mainly to do with a lower dsr and what you sell eg. vero, or higher risk. and also higher amounts get hit..

If I DO NOT link ebay to paypal, and send invoices from my email, is there still a hold placed on funds? Also curious, if I use paypal on another site, such as Bonanzal, is there holds from paypal on those also? Thanks!!

^^^Candy, welcome to the forum. Best way to answer is if you use paypal, the account might get holds and limitations. This applies for on ebay & off ebay transactions. Note I said ' might'

Believe me THIS I KNOW!! I've been through the limitation game 5 times now since 2003 :( I have always created new accounts with new info (fam members, etc) never knew about cookies, ips or any of the tech stuff till I came across this WONDERFUL site, just set up my first stealth account, just trying to find a way around the 21 day hold, this time they messed me up so bad, rent is due and NO $$$$

If you send too many invoices via email, they get upset. If you do a small number, they shouldn't be held.
Payments for sales on other venues are not currently being placed under hold, but I think policy does allow it if they choose to begin.

So maybe just let the smaller items (under $10.00) go through straight, and invoice the slightly larger ones from email? I'm not going to do any of my wholesale lot sales for awhile, so all of my transactions will be under $80 for now... Just trying to get back on my feet again, this time was a low blow :(

My suggestion: only email invoice if you 'really' need funds available quickly. And if you do so, make it a good one. The less often you do it, the more likely it will fly. If you have to do more than one, pick the first - wait for a couple regular pymts to arrive - pick the second - etc. Break it up a bit.

At what point do they stop holding the funds
Is it after so many of the held payments buyers have left feedback?
Sureley they can't do that FOREVER...

PP gives you the answer to that, but I'll repeat it here in my own verbaliciousness.
21 days max - as long as no dispute or other issue arises
If buyer leaves +FB, the hold will roll off within a day or so (sometimes within hours)
If you entered a tracking number on the item in PP, when tracking sez it got there, the hold should roll off within a day or so (PP sez maybe up to 3 days)
There are annoying bugs in that system which can work against you and sometimes for you. Mostly against you.
Annoying Example: Tracking shows item there, so PP begins the release - then the buyer leaves +FB which starts the release countdown all over again. However once the release is completed, another action won't glitch in that manner.

Yes I understand that
I mean to ask - at what point do they NOT hold the funds in the first place
Is there a point in your feedback rating when the funds clear automatically

I misunderstood the original question.
When your feedback reaches +100 or when you have (I think) 20 DSR and all higher than 4.5 (I might be fuzzy on that part).

Well 20 DSR's only takes about 2 weeks to get to...find some cheap items you can sell even if you lose a little on it to get your DSR's to 20.

If you can get your buyers to complete the DSRs for you, and they are good, you don't have to wait for the 100 +FB. It's a matter of meeting ONE criteria, whichever you reach first. So, for people like me who ask buyers to NOT DICK WITH MY DSR - PRETEND IT DOESN'T EXIST AND JUST IGNORE IT, then I can still get off the hook at +100.
You do realize they put that DSR rating release out as bait to get sellers to beg buyers into using that system? Because ebay likes DSR, NOT because it is good for you. I beg buyers to avoid DSR. I even offer discounts (outside of ebay messaging) to people who will leave it alone. On one acct, I'm playing the DSR game as an experiment. I've asked FOR buyers to use it. On another acct, I'm playing the DSR game without mentioning it in any way + or -. So far, the account where I ask people to leave DSR, it sux. They've *******s. The account where I've been quiet about it, Doing pretty good, but slow (most don't know it's there, I guess). For my other accts, I'm pleased with little or no DSR.
