changing ip address

does any body body know if you have to change your ip address if you are on bt .
thanks in advance

oompaloompa 03-20-2010 04:11 AM

you mean bt broadband? you can change it, yes it is usually dynamic ie. changing upon shutdown

aslam 03-28-2010 03:11 AM

just reset your ADSL modem and your IP will change every time

bode 04-01-2010 05:17 PM

I have a BT voyager 2500V which is great for changing IP... on off button and yer done!

I was sent a BT Home Hub 2.0 ages ago but didn't set it up...does this change IP at the flick of an on/ off reset?

galvatron 05-19-2010 05:16 PM

I have a virgin broadband internet, can I do the I.P change trick? Otherwise I'll have to get a dongle :(

Thanks in advance.

GreenBean 05-19-2010 05:56 PM

@galvatron, virgin can be changed.... depends on how you have it set up.
Shortest way:
run this program
What Is My IP Address? Lookup IP, Hide IP, Change IP, Trace IP and more...
Record your IP address, Then unplug modem etc overnight.
In AM (or after at least 20 hours) switch back on. Run that program again & IP should be different.
Let me know if that works :peace:

OK I will give that a try mate, but that will be no good to me in the long run. I mean it will be good to get a freash I.P and that for the info mate ;)
But having said that in the long run I would like to have arount 30 + ebay and paypal accounts, so turing it of for 20 hours would be no good here.

Thanks anyway GreenBean

GreenBean 05-19-2010 06:21 PM

Ah, forward thinking! Then do a dongle. That way you have another range of IPs. And you might even consider dial-up. If it's a big scheme you have planned there are choices for you:thumb:

Cant wait to get stuck into this, just dont want to mess any part of my tactical stealth operation up. First thing in the morning is getting a dongle. Well time to hit the sack it's 1:30 in the morning so wont be able to do the I.P reset trick tonight GreenBean, will do it in a day or so and let you know if it worked. thanks mate.

bode 05-20-2010 11:15 AM

20 hrs is not always the case.

My BT voyager changes IP instantly once turned on and off.

Try the same with your modem and go to ipburger.com to see if it changes.

oompaloompa 05-20-2010 11:34 AM

pull phone plug out of socket , is all you need.

imhim 05-21-2010 05:09 AM

Im on BT. I have the BT HomeHub 2.0 (I think it is... The Black one)

So you are saying that to reset the IP address, I must reset my router each time I want to log onto my ebay/paypal account?

Can't you not log onto the actual BT Router webpage, and reset the IP there somehow? As going back n forth is a bit time consuming...

Just wondering...

Wouldnt using a bluetooth dongle be the most appropriate way to use these custom made ebay/paypal accounts, as the ip will always be random? (Im presuming)

I think I did this a while back in my uni house... never got suspended...

my own reason for it being suspended was coz they wanted proof I had the goods... they then reinstated it after... 3 days I think...

No I tried that mate, it doesnt work on my virgin cable, it always gives me the same I.P and waiting 20hours without the internet :nono: I will find that hard to do as I love the internet I'm always on it. Having said that will do it soon just to see if it worked and report to the forum.

Well yeh thats why I'm going for the dongle. I could get a bunch of routers but whats the point, have 1 dongle for around 5 or 6 accounts, then get another one from a different provider for more accounts, rinse and repeat :typing:

You can get a different IP address by either resetting the modem/router or logging in to the router's settings: http://bthomehub.home

I have one other question. How important is it to change the MAC address of the router/modem in order to stay stealth? Do eBay/PP see the MAC address of equipment used?

Vicvelcro 05-23-2010 03:17 AM

You didn't read the thread I posted.

cpm 05-23-2010 03:22 AM

Actually I did. I was not able to discern the required information. Your post refers to Router and Cable Modem, perhaps both. My query is also a little general.

I was also responding to the OP's query with a BT ADSL Router.

Vicvelcro 05-23-2010 03:33 AM

Ah, I misunderstood then. There's another thread about changing IP for DSL users.

I answered the second part of your question via email.

Just to let everyone know, I tried this method as well. I went to my parents house on Friday morning, ( checked my I.P & turned off the modem ), came back on Sunday evning, checked my I.P and it was still the same :( It was turned off for around 60 hours.

Download smac, spoof your mac address. This will change your ip address. I do it all the time. Search a torrent website & youll find a cracked version of SMAC as the trial version won't give you full access. easy done..

Hi mate, it was an easy find, but it took a while for me to understand how it works. Anyways, I click on "random" to spoof MAC but it always shows the same I.P on I.P Burger :mad2:
